I have this air cleaner called a Surround Air Multi-Tech
it uses a hepa & carbon filter, uv bulb, ion generator, and something to make ozone with.
it's a great little air cleaner. I used it quite a bit when I was smoking cigars.
Of course, all the residue and nastyness of all the smoke from them had made the filter useless because the air then would smell very stale from the residue that collected inside the box.
so I took it apart to try and wash it. of course I knew to remove the electronic components first...
everything was rather easy until I came across this vacuum-tube-like thing in plastic holders mounted on the inside with some seriously tenacious glue
in the process of removing the glue, I was a dumbass and used a screwdriver as a lever (I was trying to be careful) but it slipped and hit the side of the thing where a wire comes out...apparently there was a little glass protrusion on the inside of the end, that broke off. so of course it's useless, whatever it is.
it's about 2-3 inches long, about 3/4 of an inch wide, and it had metal netting wrapped around it with two black wires coming off it. on the inside, there's a metal tube with 4 wires coming out the end of it and wrapped over. on the opposite end of that tube was two small wires that go through a light-bulb-like glass holder (the end of which is where the glass thing snapped off).. the 2 wires join into one on the outside
I have no idea what it does...either the ionizer or ozone maker...
but obviously since I had taken it apart and broke it there's no warranty to use. But I would like to figure out what it is and then find out where I can get another one and buy it within a reasonable price.
anybody good at electronics, know how to get parts that the manufacturer is not likely to help me get??
