Part identification and where to find a new one

I have this air cleaner called a Surround Air Multi-Tech
it uses a hepa & carbon filter, uv bulb, ion generator, and something to make ozone with.
it's a great little air cleaner. I used it quite a bit when I was smoking cigars.
Of course, all the residue and nastyness of all the smoke from them had made the filter useless because the air then would smell very stale from the residue that collected inside the box.
so I took it apart to try and wash it. of course I knew to remove the electronic components first...
everything was rather easy until I came across this vacuum-tube-like thing in plastic holders mounted on the inside with some seriously tenacious glue

in the process of removing the glue, I was a dumbass and used a screwdriver as a lever (I was trying to be careful) but it slipped and hit the side of the thing where a wire comes out...apparently there was a little glass protrusion on the inside of the end, that broke off. so of course it's useless, whatever it is.
it's about 2-3 inches long, about 3/4 of an inch wide, and it had metal netting wrapped around it with two black wires coming off it. on the inside, there's a metal tube with 4 wires coming out the end of it and wrapped over. on the opposite end of that tube was two small wires that go through a light-bulb-like glass holder (the end of which is where the glass thing snapped off).. the 2 wires join into one on the outside
I have no idea what it does...either the ionizer or ozone maker...
but obviously since I had taken it apart and broke it there's no warranty to use. But I would like to figure out what it is and then find out where I can get another one and buy it within a reasonable price.

anybody good at electronics, know how to get parts that the manufacturer is not likely to help me get??

can you post a picture of the bit? It sounds like the lamp.

There are replacement lamps available here :

You should change the lamp every year or so anyway. I'm not sure if it would have a separate ozone generator - since the lamp is a 265nm UV lamp, it will generate ozone all by itself without needing a separate bit. The ioniser would just be a sharp high voltage pin that will spray ions out - nothing fancy.

Could be an ozone generator, then - are there any markings on it? Something that might look like a model number or anything of the sort? Might not hurt to just call up the company and see if they'll sell replacement parts - they may not do it under warranty, but it could be the only way to get a part if it's something custom rather than a stock part they've used for their rig.

nah there's no markings on it at all. actually I think it may still work with the hole there.
it must be the ozone generator because I've located the ion generator and removed it already (2 L shape pins next to each other coming off a small circuit board that has 2 large resistors on it) and verified it was the ion generator according to further looking at where it is in the box according to the company's site (right next to the impeller fans).

anyways I've looked around for what makes an ozone generator. all it is is two electrodes separated by an insulator, you can DIY one with the right power supply and 2 metal meshes glued to a glass sheet and a wire running from each mesh. of course the one i have has quite an interesting design apart from a typical DIY setup.
so maybe the 'vacuum' wasn't there or not needed? not entirely sure. I'm going to put it back together and apply power...hopefully it doesn't cause an insane glow that will fry my retinas or otherwise overheat, melting stuff/causing a fire. since it's the ozone generator, i don't use it often anyways (unless the place really stinks) so i'm not going to be too worried about it not working..it's parallel to everything else...except for maybe the fact it draws some sort of specific voltage and if it's not the right kind, it might fatigue the control board because the electrical balance is off? My electrical knowledge is a bit rusty hehe.
