Last night I made homemade creamy heirloom tomato soup with fresh basil and oregano, and cut myself trying to peel those bitches. Just now I paper-cut my knife-cut and that sucked even more. The soup was pretty thick, and I need an easy meal idea for tonight, so I'm going to use some leftover soup as a component for a veal pasta sauce. I'm thinking I will do a pasta bake because I envision the color of the soup-sauce being real nice when I pull it out of the oven with some sharp English style cheddar and some asiago melted on top. A simple side salad of butter lettuce, garbanzo beans, some soppressata I have in the fridge, diced kalamatas, sunflower seeds, tomatoes and olive oil/balsamic should round it out nicely. I never take pics, and if I do, I never upload them. I'm lazy after the meal is served.

Lots of cooking and baking going on here lately. Got a Lodge cast iron dutch oven finally and another bigger skillet (12"). Stopped using the teflon since we got the bird. Last week it made a killer beef stew and also corned beef and cabbage. Of course we had hash for breakfast and reuben sammys for lunch the next day. Yesterday had creamed eggs on toast or "shit on a shingle" as my Dad says. Sorry but I was lazy on the pics for all of that but I'm gonna make up for it now...

Been baking a lot of breads lately. It's like my new hobby. Mostly doing "no kneed" breads in the dutch oven. White, wheat, rye (for the reubens). Ok here we go.

Made some english muffins this morning.

Mine with beacon, cheese, and fried egg.

Bearpig's with ham and burnt scrabled eggs (I didn't do it).

Here's a mostly white bread from yesterday.

            ...

            Here's a whole wheat bread.

            My wild yeast starter.

Here's the first dough using my starter.

            That's it for now.

                Made these bagels yesterday.

                Made some scones on Saturday.

First loaf using my wild yeast starter (no commercial yeast added).

No but thanks for the compliment! I'm a pretty good cook but I'm still learning. The baking is a recent hobby. Most of the stuff I've posted on here is the first attempt. I really enjoy good food and I want more control over the ingredients in the food I eat. I also like to know how things are made so I do some research and give it a go. It's very rewarding for me.

Random pict, but damn! this is good soup!! borscht
My entire weekend revolved around the making and serving of it for a charity event.
Never actually tried it before this weekend because I always thought I hated beets.

I forgot about this thread! Truthwolf1..that soup looks wonderful!! Especially with the topping, sour cream?? I have a hate-love relationship with beets..the dirt smell kinda turns me off but I always end up liking the flavor.

Nice work snuffy! I can see an artisan bake shop in your future.

Not an elaborate meal but I recently caught a salmon, smoked it and made an awesome spread:
