apple put it back on the store..

that's another advantage of android, you don't have apple deciding arbitrarily what you can and cannot have

As long as android continues being an "open" system, they will win. My only issue with apple is that they like to control their content too much.

Not to start a flame war, but that looks pretty flame worthy to me

In reality, people prefer different things. In the end, it's what works for them. It's a shame to see fanboys on both sides of the issue because both platforms make each other better in the long run, and that is good.

Just the simple fact that the smartphone use has grown incredibly in the last few years is outstanding, IMO. I personally value having information in my pocket or in my hand when I need it while carrying the least amount of tech as possible.

I am off contract with AT&T and the tough choice for me will be an upgraded iPhone or an unlocked Android phone if one doesn't come out with some hot specs for AT&T.

I'd definitely give Android a shot if the cost to get one wasn't so high right now. I could sell my iPhone and buy an N1 for example, but I don't want to buy a device without the ability to change back if I feel the desire to.

the only valid argument i've heard for the iPhone is the exchange sync is nice. i'd slit my wrists if i were tied down to exchange still, it's so limited and there are much nicer options available.

yeah yeah, you spend the last 17 years of your life working on and inventing the technology that makes this crap possible and this is the thanks you get.

Oh yes, thank you for calling me a militant, defensive, hipster doofus.

But putting that aside, I am interested in which technologies you have invented to make my iPhone possible.

i was in R&D for the company that did the original "smart card" work.. my patents are in multicast IP, digital broadcast television, and we developed most of the tech that made the web as you know it possible.

Smart Cards as in bus passes and stuff? I thought they were older then 17 years and I didn't know any one company was responsible for developing most of the tech that made the web as I know it possible. But seriously I thank you for what ever contributions you made. I just don't understand why this makes you flame iPhone users.

Also, with your expertise, please go work for AT&T and improve the U-verse system. I like it but man they need some help.

Sadly, that's very true, but many large corporations don't agree with you.

I would (almost) give my right bollock to be freed from the chains of Microsoft software forever. It's ugly, clunky, expensive and shite. And there are much nicer options available.

Unfortunately, our IT department doesn't agree with me as fixing broken Microshite keeps them employed.

By the way - some of the other arguments are valid too - you just have different personal values and so disagree with them.

I have a pay as you go Razr with minutes loaded into them when I need to.

It has "Call, voicemail, Caller ID and Text"

                          Completely happy where I stand.

My iphone was given to me, so it's cool. To me a phone is just a phone. Who cares, now a days there like some status quo. Screw that, as long as I can call and receive calls from it, it serves it's purpose. Kinda feel the same way about cars.

i am not sure as i've never seen a bus pass, but i think they're just RFID style badges, we didn't do RFID work, we did actual "computer on a card" type work, originally developed for satellite set-top boxes for digital TV.

i've worked with several companies over the past 17 years, so no, no "one" company was responsible.

most of the guys that work for me carry iPhones, because they're "cool". these are very smart guys who make nice 6-figure salaries, and i give them equal amounts of crap, so don't take it personally.

I'd say phone calls are somewhere around 10% of my iPhone use.
