    This. Exactly.
I disagree. The reason why it hasn't worked is because I don't stick with it. I end up going back to the way I was previously eating because I have no support at home. I am weak, so the change has to be with in to make sure I don't go back to eating processed bullsh*t.

When I am on my game, it works wonderfully. I am not hungry or starving and I am dropping pounds and inches.

Personally I prefer veggies to pizza, but when you have a pizza thrown in your face it is hard not to eat it.

Growing up my mother cooked low-cal, low-fat and I was thin. It is much easier when the people you live with can eat healthy. Once you go into a world where everyone around you is eating crap, it becomes a challenge. This is my issue. Every other time I have tried to tackle this I end up reverting back because no one around me has changed their eating habits, and I am weak...goes back to my prior statement, I have to make up my mind that what is being eaten around me has no hold on what I eat. It is hard.

So, really, until you walk a mile, or eat, in my shoes, you personally don't know what will work or not work for me. I appreciate all the comments and suggestions. Good or bad. I am working very hard at this and they are keeping me focused. Thank you.

I am an actual addict of flour. So I am a fiend for breads and pasta. People don't take it serious, but it's like a heroin addiction. And actually, I did some research and it's like alcoholism.

yeah, you do experience withdrawals coming off refined carbohydrates..

give it a week, and keep yourself stuffed silly on salad (without croutons), meat, and veggies..

        the headaches do go away.

Yes, I do, and always fall off the wagon and binge.

I have gone a couple of weeks, and it had great results, but then something would come up, and I'd fall to temptation.

I should probably qualify my quote here, because I actually agree with you. I was agreeing more with the 2nd half of what I quoted from ADM, but just quoted the whole paragraph.

But yeah, that's the way I've tried to approach it...eating the *right* things instead of the *right* amounts, or obsessive calorie counting. It has worked well so far. Things that my Doc likes to call "Theraputic Lifestyle Changes".

I view it a lot like I did when quitting smoking. When I slipped, I'd acknowledge it, forgive myself, and then forget it and move on. It's perfectly ok to enjoy some pizza now and then( I like it, too!) or even the occasional burger.

But believe me, I know firsthand how difficult it can be to do on your own, and it doesn't even have to be about the family environment. It's real easy to get heavy in America without any help, and it's even easier to stay that way. As with anything, it's about setting the goal and keeping your eyes on it.
