    Bummed a little

The ones in here who are on my facebook and/or twitter have heard the story, so here goes for the rest of you.

A couple weeks ago the hubby heard through work about a couple that was giving away their 11 month old pomeranian due to the wife being 7 months pregnant and not thinking she could handle both a baby and a very active small dog. So after a few phone calls between us, they picked this past Tuesday to come up with the dog so they could see where he was going, etc. So Tuesday comes along, they spend 2 hours with us and the dog we already have and all seemed fine. They brought in his toys/food/heartworm pills/advantix/etc and left.

Kodi (the pom) immediately took to me and was following me all over the house and wouldn't leave my side. I didn't have another crate to put him in overnight, so I let him sleep in our room like our other dog does. He didn't get into anything or make any kind of mess like I was warned he would do. Around 6:30am I had that feeling like I was being watched, and there was Kodi at the side of the bed with his little nose peeking up over the covers. Couldn't resist so I let him come up on the bed and he cuddled right up.

The next day was the same...following me around, wagging that little tail when I'd look at him, was a perfect match of dog and owner. Then the hubby called...the wife of the couple had been up all night crying and throwing up and that he'd brought her to the hospital (so her husband said anyways) and said that they wanted Kodi back that day (wednesday) and would be at our house around 4.

So after just one day, Kodi left...I was the one sick after that cuz he was just such an amazingly good little dog. After that, my kids both said "you know mom, I think Dad would get you any dog you want now". Probably true, but Kodi won me over quicker than any pet I've ever had. So yeah, now I think the hunt will be on for another pom...they're just so cute and such cool little dogs.

    Me holding Kodi...*sniffle*

I'm sorry to hear that :^(

Hopefully the right dog will come your way. The pound is a good place to look imo. You get dogs that are hardier genetically, and less likely to otherwise get a home.

I keep checking now for any poms that go there too. We do have one dog (american eskimo) but I would like something small. Kodi was the perfect size and the hubby says "not a chance" when I mention a chihuahua

Yah pound is where it's at. But I know what you mean, it's not like a new sweater, you built a bond with it. Also, thats a real dick move from your friend.

I didn't think it was very cool of them either! I'd always thought you needed a puppy in order for it to bond with you, but now that I know better, plus they're already housebroken which was a nice change.

Awe that is so sad. I know the attachment. I raise part toy fox terrier/chihuahua mixes.

I had a pom when I was 15...bought him with my own money. He was red/brown and I named him Peanut. I came home from school one day and my stepmom had given him away I was pissed. I couldn't spend enough time to potty train him and she was sick of doing it. At least she could have let me pick the owners. The people changed his name to something dumb and I never got to see him again.

I feel your pain. That just sucks.
