What are your favorite Firefox add-ons, and why?

I admit it I have been an IE die hard for years. I would turn a blind eye to IE's shortcomings while screaming about other browser's idiosyncrasies and quirks. It' just gotten too hard to feel comfortable using IE and it's cycle is complete. There are several sleeker and faster more customizable options available that I have to resign my love for IE and move on. I am after all a rational man.

I'm serious about using Firefox after trying every web browser out there. While it was not my overall favorite, I have settled on it due to the many functional add-ons and the overall speed that it loads pages for me. Not to mention the widest available compatibility across the web of all the browsers i tried.

So far my FAVORITE add ons are ABP adblock plus and Fastest Fox.

What are yours?

Fastest Fox is super convenient and allows me to scroll through several pages automatically without actually clicking to the next page in the website. Uber Cool.

ABP lets me visit sites that I had previously given up on due to heavy ad laden material. Now I can go to these sites without the deluge of audible and visual graffiti and distractions.

What should I add next?

Smartbookmarks bar- Displays site icon only, with description on mouseover. I moved mine to the top, and got rid of the actual bookmarks bar for more screen real estate.


Flashblock- I don't really like blocking ads as it deprives the websites of money. I split the difference with sites I care about by whitelisting Adblock+, but leaving Flashblock on. That way I don't get the system crippling Flash ads, but basic text ads remain.

Foobar Controls- Controls Foobar2000 :^P

DownloadHelper- Downloads Flash video/audio(YouTube)

Too stripped for me, and the lack of a decent adblock is a showstopper. Chrome downloads the ads, but blanks them. With Firefox, they never get downloaded.

I came over from Opera, and love the Safari interface.

NoScript and BetterPrivacy are two essentials. I also like Forcastfox for a quick glance at the weather.

The cool thing about FF is its almost unlimited modular, customizable aspect. Coolris, for example, is a great way to browse images, and I would recommend this addon for anyone who does a lot of image browsing. But I don't use it because I don't need it.

and the only other plugin i use is video download helper which is great for grabbing youtube vids.
