Ice, PP and others have the right idea I think. If you're going to post something edgy, just identify it in your post subject.

I also think that labeling the People and World forum 'Potentially NSFW' as a whole is a good idea.

    Also:

Public forum so post whatever, but its 18+ not only means NSFW material is met without a double glance, but also with a level of maturity.
Very good points that have to be considered here.

I hope it's not generally felt that *I* piled on Lazer. As I told him, he really shoudn't have taken this personally. I didn't jump his stuff, I didn't get angry with him, I even told him that I thought the pic was pretty funny, all told. I just made a simple request of him, for the future. I didn't even ask that the existing pic be deleted. Lazer leaving was Lazer's decision. I hope he comes back.

      NSFW!!!!

      label it like this?

see above my NSFW!!!! in the "post subject" area. Its awfull small.

I'm starting to think that since this IS an 18 and over forum that it should be ok to post whatever you want. But there HAS to be some boundries of some kind. As perverted as I am I think the elmo photo is funny but not something I would want visitors to see. It absoultely reflects badly on the board as a whole. We all need to use some discression no matter what. just sayin.......

either way I still think f**k and the c**t word should be camoflaged somewhat. its the least we can do. and easy too. We have to have some respect for others here. We want all people over 18 to become members. If they see alot of racy photos and cussin here it will put off some. What ya think??
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

        It'd be something, at least.

Or, maybe even in the body of the post, but with enough space left between the text and the content that a reader would have to scroll down to see it?

        Edit:

When it comes to this, I think what's good for the goose should be good for the gander. If we're going to allow sketchy photography, even with an NSFW tag, we can't really ban the cursing and claim we're not operating on a double standard. Dunno how we would manage that, but I gotta throw it out there. Liandri has a point.

Here's my breakdown of it. I voted to limit NSFW content to OT BTW.

              Pros of limiting NSFW...

Relatively safe to view threads at work, or at home with wife and kids.
Less likely to offend more sensitive members.
Lessen the risk of the whole forum devolving into 4chan.
              Keeps the forums more dignified

              Cons of limiting NSFW...

We're adults, in an adult forum, right? Why limit speech?
GET BACK TO WORK YOU SLACKER!!!
Restrictions on content that would otherwise add to a thread.
Makes the forums a bit more boring.

I think that's about it. From my perspective, the pros outweigh the cons. We're getting bigger all the time, and while a smaller forum self polices pretty well, all it takes is 1 asshat to screw up the system, and blow the whole thing for everybody.

When you guys figure it out let me know. Untill then I will continue doing just as I have in the past. Useing my own judgement for MY OWN POSTS.

On several other sites I'm on, it just requires putting *NWS* in the thread title to warn folks....

                  Quick, easy, simple

What happens when the thread starts out as SFW and someone posts a NSFW pic before the mods can add in the label?

I don't see any quick simple solutions.

Just limit all NSFW posts to People & World Around Us and if you are at work..... enter at your own risk.

Obviously that elmo picture is for illustration purposes only, no pun intended. That is definitely NSFW, and not something I would normally post. If a moderator deleted that type of picture, I would have no qualms about it...even though it is pretty damn funny (I made it too...do I get an A for show n tell?)

If there has to be a limit to appease those crying foul and protect the image of the forum, I vote for the above as well.
