We often forget that Free speech is a two fold right. It means that you have the freedom to speak your mind (no censorship) as well as the freedom to hold your tongue (no compulsorily disclosure).
In light of that, I am undertaking a week long moratorium of the contentious matters that have filled so much of our posts here.
This is not the moderators locking posts. It is not a ban on bouncing boobs. It is not censoring of what you feel you need to say. It is just me personally.
My reasons for this self inflicted restriction are these:
1. I have nothing more to add to the discussion that I have not already said
2. I am not hearing anything new being brought to the discussion by others. We are all simply saying the same thing over and over again with the only result being folks getting upset all anew
3. The Moderators are well aware of what needs to be fixed, addressed, and how each of us thinks it should be done. At this point, the information gathering has ended. How they moderate the situation is up to them.
4. I’m sure during all of this the newbie section has been almost neglected.
So I’m not even going to enter the threads that have been at the heart of the commotion. I’m sticking to the others that are more indicative of our site.
I invite you to join me in this moratorium in an exercise of the often neglected aspect of your right to free speech (the choice of what topics you will engage).
