    Fun in the shower

(knew that title would get your attention) :P

Got in the shower today, went to get my head wet and felt something hard on my scalp. Thought maybe I just broke out from something but it wouldn't come off. Soooo...I started really getting nervous, knew what I was going to find and just kept scraping with my fingernail and finally got it off...screamed a little as I put it on the end of the tub and proceeded to pop that little bastard.

Yeah, it was a tick...how he got on me is a mystery, but I freaked. I hate ticks more than spiders! *still shuddering at the memory* Needless to say, I stripped down the bed and washed everything in hot water and then into the dryer on hot hot hot...blankets and everything.

Can surround me with snakes and I won't flinch, but a tick...YUCK! I have him now sandwiched in some packing tape as a sorta victory trophy...just hope I got all of the head...*another big shudder*

Ticks suck. They're one of my most hated things from the outdoors. I got Lyme disease a few years ago. Between that and the antibiotics, it really messed me up. My skin has permanent sun damage from the antibiotics :^(

Ugh, they gross me out. My cats had them last year, they got to stay outside for a week or two while they were treated. Nasty little buggers. (ticks, not the cats)

get it professionally checked, because oftentimes, they can leave a barb in when pulled out roughly, and thats enough to infect you. especially with hair in the way, its hard to tell.

That sucks! No pun intended! Ha!

I went to the shower the other morning and there was a centipede in the tub waiting to take a shower with me. Unfortunately the water was too warm for him...

Debating on whether or not to take a trip to the doc to get it checked out, but I did post a couple pics of it...just follow the links on my twitter page. Maybe some of you outdoorsy types can identify the little icky thing...

This one seems too big to be a deer tick thankfully...and Rob, very funny, hehe

I've been running around checking animals all day to make sure they didn't have any on them. Glad I only have 3 cats and 1 dog! My snakes would never give me a tick of course, hehe

Sheila, at least the tick was on your head. I'll never forget the time I sat down on the toilet, and saw a tick that was way too close to my nether region for comfort...talk about freaking out! Luckily I removed it without incident, and no Lyme disease. But now I always check down there after being in the woods.

Deer ticks are the ones that carry Lyme disease. That tick looks too big for a deer tick, Sheilalynn.

I have a little plastic tweezer like thing for tick removal. It's called Deticker II. Works great.

Sheila, hate to admit it but 1. I clicked on your thread because of the subject and 2. I laughed as I read...only because I've experienced a similar tick moment. I hiked one day and after I got home I felt something crawling around in my cleavage, reached down and felt the tiny bastard! I flipped out because I wasn't sure of what it was so I pulled my shirt off right there in my backyard, I could have cared less if any neighbors were out at that moment! Sorry all I have is a story to share with you and no advice as to lyme disease, etc.

photos or it didn't happen
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.
