      nope. not the oil pan

forgot to mention. it's only during acceleration.

new tranny, new spark plugs, new plug wires, new heads, basically a lot of new shit on the engine.

i'd rather not have to take it to a shop and have to pay out the ass for them to look at it. trial and error is ok with me

I am not a mechanic but have had over 20 used cars with all the problems.

Oil Pan is usually a odd knock and bog down in humid weather.

Is the exhaust system all in tact? no loose connections?

One more idea, make sure your catalytic converter isn't plugged.

I had a high mileage engine thats' performance was going to shit so I figured it was time for a rebuilt. About a month after replacing the engine I still had performance problems, knocking, etc. The catalytic converter was plugged.

Sounds like a classic case of a main bearing to me.

If it's got tits or wheels it'll give you problems.

*No offense to the ladies. Just a saying I've heard that would bring humor to otherwise frustrating car problem. My car died this week too. Picking up a new (used) one today or tomorrow.
