    You Are Gonna Starve!!!

U.S. Food Inflation Spiraling Out of Control

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) today released their Producer Price Index (PPI) report for March 2010 and the latest numbers are shocking. Food prices for the month rose by 2.4%, its sixth consecutive monthly increase and the largest jump in over 26 years. NIA believes that a major breakout in food inflation could be imminent, similar to what is currently being experienced in India.

Some of the startling food price increases on a year-over-year basis include, fresh and dry vegetables up 56.1%, fresh fruits and melons up 28.8%, eggs for fresh use up 33.6%, pork up 19.1%, beef and veal up 10.7% and dairy products up 9.7%. On October 30th, 2009, NIA predicted that inflation would appear next in food and agriculture, but we never anticipated that it would spiral so far out of control this quickly.

The PPI foreshadows price increases that will later occur in the retail sector. With U-6 unemployment rising last month to 16.9%, many retailers are currently reluctant to pass along rising prices to consumers, but they will soon be forced to do so if they want to avoid reporting huge losses to shareholders.

Food stamp usage in the U.S. has now increased for 14 consecutive months. There are now 39.4 million Americans on food stamps, up 22.4% from one year ago. The U.S. government is now paying out more to Americans in benefits than it collects in taxes. As food inflation continues to surge, our country will soon have no choice but to cut back on food stamps and other entitlement programs.

Most financial experts in the mainstream media are proclaiming that the recession is over and inflation is not a problem in the U.S. Unfortunately, they fail to realize that rising food and gasoline prices accounted for 58% of February's year-over-year 3.85% rise in retail sales. NIA believes price inflation is beginning to accelerate in many areas of the economy besides food and energy, and all increases in U.S. retail sales this year will be entirely due to inflation.

I believe the 2 main problems in the US are:

    Overpopulation.
    Welfare state.

The Main Stream Media is controlled by the Powerful & the Corrupt... therefore it is 99% lies.

The recession is not over. Things are going to get progressively much worse. Our overlords just want to prevent panic from spreading amongst the slaves.

Our food prices are tied to the price of energy (oil)

All the farm machinery runs on diesel
The fertilizers and pesticides are derived from oil/natural gas
Food is transported across the world by ship/plane/truck
        Refrigeration............

        Get used to it. :?

It won't be long before we will need to start eating our children.

Justin proves a good point, that the system that affects all these things is much larger than any one industry. MOST things are tied to gas prices, anything that comes from outside the united states or has to be transported from one state to another in particular. By investing in alternative energy and reducing our energy cost (and therefore transportation cost) we could stop the inflation that IS occuring in many places people tend not to look, like agriculture. Food prices have been inflating for some time now, and most people don't notice it.

Reforming the energy system would have wide-spread economic advantages in every industry. It would also help businesses both big and small by doing things such as reducing transportation costs, and energy costs for their B&M shops as well.

This is why I don't understand why the nation thinks the way it does. The right wants to stay on oil forever, the left wants to live in hippy communes and use alternative energy but they can never agree on what kind. First biodiesel will save us, now they find out it actually produces more CO2 than gasoline, then they want wind farms (but it kills the birds, so that's out), then they want massive solar farms (but kills off endangered turtles), it never ends.

It's simple, both sides claim they want to cut the deficit, they both claim they want to help small business and they both claims they want companies to create more jobs to make more money and hire more employees, and they both claim that they support technology (the republicans not as much). Alternative energy, if done properly, will be like the internet, it will be a singularity of sorts that will enhance every aspect of the economy as well as our daily lives in the same way the microchip has.

It's been a while since America knocked one out of the ballpark and dominated an entire market with our revolutionary enginuity and technology, THIS COULD BE IT. Forget Obama and his million comittees and taxes and forget the republicans with their oil fetish, Americans can become rich off this, but we have to be the first ones to get there.

Now? I been eating children since y2k. After it turned out to be nothing, I kind of developed a taste for it. It's like post-apocolyptic veal.

Don't forget the amount of food that comes packaged in plastic. Plastic = Petro. Only thing is it could be packaged in Hemp, but that would make too much sense.
