My Unsolicited Opinion Regarding The Forum

These are the changes I'd make to the forum. They're mostly to reduce perceived clutter...

Get rid of the sidebar, and put those categories in tabs at the top.

Move the chatbox to where the sidebar is.

Put forum stats in a tab at the top.

GET A DARK THEME!! :^D

Dark themes always hurt my eyes, nd I think thy give a perceived notion of seriousness and foreboding to what is otherwise a very silly, helpful and accepting group of people.

Other than that I think these are some very god ideas. There are many bells and whistles on the new forum, and I would much prefer if they were moved somewhere where I could ignore them.

I agree. that way a portion of the chatbox is open all the time. but need to watch what you say. OR make the chatbox for members only.

As far as the tab at the LOWER LEFT that says " moderation tools" [and sometimes it says other things] it took me 4 days to figure out that the drop down menu was at the TOP LEFT of the page. Who the hell laid that out?

Can the forum be made so that when you click on a thread you have already read, and there is a new post [or several], that the thread will open up and put you right at the new post. So ya don't have to scroll and reead to see where you let off and where the new posts are.

yea more color, slightly larger font maybe. And for our names and other colored font maybe use the color I use in my siggy. Thats really easy to read........for these old eyes.

Agreed - this is cheery and all, but an option of something a bit less bright would be nice.

I would put the chat box at the top, stats at the bottom.
No other gripes.
I did see the option to collapse boxes you don't use. It's when I collapsed the statistcs box that I noticed the chat box. I didn't know it was hiding down there.

Look to the left of the thread titles PP. If there are posts that you have not read there will be a blue icon with a couple of chevrons. Click that and you'll be at the next new post in the thread.

Or, click on the title itself, when the the thread opens there is a blue bar across the top with a link that's titled "View First Unread"

The dark theme would be completely optional. I'd like to see it available as an option. I might give a go at creating one myself for the Stylish addon for Firefox, but I've never done any kind of site design before. I have to figure out how to put together a CSS with the altered attributes.

Oh, my bad. Sorry about that. I don't really know what I was talking about there. Its been a long week, and its a gonna be a longer weekend. I think that was just me trying to rationalize my real response which was something along the lines of: "but dark themes make my one farsighted eye go crazy, wah, wah wah."

Ah ya'll will get used to it. In ten years you won't be able to figure out how to even access the internet without calling your kids, so enjoy the gradual learning curve while you still can. Just playin', I'm still figuring this thing out too. Snuson is my only source of forum pleasure so this is beyond new to me. Lx, I would go dark theme too I think, not sure exactly what that means, but I imagine a lot of blackness and not so much brightness. "Dark", if you will. I could dig it.

I actually really like the current theme. It is unique and i like the lighter colors, all other forms ive been on are dark.

Keep in mind guys that this new forum is designed around having a LOT of users, which is why it has a friends list and some of the other options. We are still a small community so some of the things like groups etc seems redundant but may serve useful as our fan base grows.

I like it. The only change I would make is to add way more smiley options.

If you have that many posts chances are you’ve earned that title long ago………………….for those with less post, there may still be hope
