The oil spill is looking to be even worse than previousely predicted. Now that BP released (finally) a video of the oil leaking from the well, scientists have been able to analyze the image and are saying now that more oil is pumping out each day than we thought. The new estimate puts it at 1 Exxon Valdiz spill every 4 days.

Regardless of the exact amount coming out, be it 210,000 barels a day or more or less, we know it's massive.
Post here any of the cool and unconventional ways you have heard of how to fix this problem (since the dome doesn't look like it's gonna work)
Russia says Nuke it.
And they are not joking. Theyve fixed 5 oil leak situations like this with underwater nukes. They have also used nukes under water 169 times up untill the 70's for other reasons like laying pipeline. Now when I think underwater nuclear explosion I am imagining everything in the sea dying instantly, but apparently it worked for them several times, so maybe it's an option? I mean it is bad for the ocean but frankly, this spill leaves us with a "which one is less bad" option. I for one would love to see the gulf coast get nuked, they could sell seats to recoup losses from their recent decline of tourism.
(In other news RUSSIA NUKED THE OCEAN!!! All of those "Nuke the whales" bumper stickers are finally paying off)

Another idea, one which has even less credibility than nuking the ocean (because it's from the Esquire) is to use a giant ship to suck it up, filter it and spit the oil-free water back out. Apparently, the arabs spilled 700 million gallons at one point in 93 or something and didn't say anything about it, but managed to somehow clean it up. I don't know how true all of this is, but the idea of sucking it up in giant oil ships, cleaning the water, then siptting the clean water back out sounds like a good idea. (But it would take years)

But then again, if we don't plug first it than we're still screwed.
