    'Artificial life' Breakthrough

Scientists in the US have succeeded in developing the first synthetic living cell. "This is the first time any synthetic DNA has been in complete control of a cell," said Dr Venter.
The researchers constructed a bacterium's "genetic software" and transplanted it into a host cell. The resulting microbe then looked and behaved like the species "dictated" by the synthetic DNA. The advance, published in Science, has been hailed as a scientific landmark, but critics say there are dangers posed by synthetic organisms.
The researchers copied an existing bacterial genome. They sequenced its genetic code and then used "synthesis machines" to chemically construct a copy. Dr Venter told BBC News: "We've now been able to take our synthetic chromosome and transplant it into a recipient cell - a different organism. "As soon as this new software goes into the cell, the cell reads [it] and converts into the species specified in that genetic code."
"These could be used in the future to make the most powerful bioweapons imaginable. The challenge is to eat the fruit without the worm."

It's amazing how synthetic humanoids have taken over the political and entertainment field.

All kidding aside, this is the future. I think there will be terrible perills along the way, but in the end we'll (humankind) will be glad we did.

I've read that the church has already condemned this practice. There will be people fighting for the morals of it all and that will never change. We've got to progress in this direction. The possibilities are endless. Sure, there will be death and destruction. There will be errors, there will be leaks, escapes, and the like. I don't think that bio-weapons should be the focus though I think that inevitable. Think of the progress a species could have if they could control DNA and evolution. The medical advances alone make it laughable to try to stop it.

There will come a time when this ball we're living on is uninhabitable. Nobody knows when that will happen but they ALL agree that it WILL happen. As a species that can think ahead we have got to make it our business to endure. We've got to be prepared to face challenges that we don't even know exist yet. I am extremely excited about this achievement. It opens the door to be able to create things...things that we aren't capable of imagining yet. With space exploration expanding we will "discover" things that will open our eyes. I, for one, believe that we know almost nothing about the environment that exist in. Even the earth...the oceans are all but unexplored, and past the moon we have only scratched the surface. As a living being I think collectively we are smart enough to begin to figure it out. We will be able to learn things that are beyond our imagination at the present time. We can adapt and evolve and I wish I could see it happen. Hell, I wish I could be part of it.

I imagine there being a time that "death" is looked at differently than we know it today. I think humans, or what I can only describe as human now, will be able to separate from the physical body and enter another one in order to endure. For this we would need to harness the thing that many describe as the soul. I don't think that it'll be in our lifetimes but I think we are heading that way...if we don't kill ourselves first. I think it's necessary.

Perhaps I watch and read too much about space, Stephen Hawking, Carl Sagan, and the like but it's wicked fun to fantasize about. Ha! Pot-talk.

                End of rant.

Back on track...I'm all but convinced that President Obama was "placed" and that many others are as well. There's something bigger than we know going on (like the Keanu Reeves (sp) - Matrix post). And it must be exposed.

                ...Call Jesse Ventura.

.... STILL NO CURE FOR CANCER

Really though, they can construct DNA, the most complex thing in existence, and transplant it into a living cell and turn it into whatever the DNA tells it to be, but we cannot turn off the "multiply into infinity" part of cancer cells? But I bought all that pink shit from Susan Kolman!

Shit like this is what leads to the ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE!!!

                      You're probably right.

Have you read this? It's really funny in a tongue in cheek way.

                            ya forgot one....

Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.
