First interesting trip to the ER

So today my daughter stuck an eraser up her nose and we had to go to the ER had to have it removed.

But oh no, this wasn't just a quick up the nose pull out, have a nice day kinda thing.

My kiddo apparently turns into the Hulk when under pressure, so the Doc, two nurses, and myself had to hold her down, she is SCREAMING and crying (this part actually made me sad, but the thing had to come out so I sucked it up as best I could), and out comes an eraser the size of the tip of my finger, this thing was HUGE.

They also showed me something interesting (which would have worked if it wasn't so far up there), but we held the other side of her nose shut and they had me blow into her mouth, and that usually will get something out of a kiddo's nose if they have it up there (you learn new things everyday!)

what an interesting weekend so far.

    glad shes ok
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

Oh gosh, sorry to hear about that.

I think of all the misadventures my daughter put me through. Although, it's bittersweet memories, I'm glad she is age 20 now

Reminds me of the Cheech and Chong bit about up his nose!
I know what you mean about the kids going Hulk! My son had stepped on a rose branch and got a thorn stuck in his foot. After about a month his foot was getting hard. We took him to the er and it took 3 nurses the doctor , myself and a straight jacket to hold him down! I don't know if it was he or I that was more traumatized!

God I'm dreading it when it eventually happens to me.

We've already had the hospital horror on the day of my daughters birth in March. I'm not squeamish but my wife took a massive hemorrhage and lost 3 litres of blood during the birth. I saw EVERYTHING. Every time they tried to put the uterus back it popped back up again exactly like a balloon. I was glad when the 3 hours of surgery was over.

and there'll be plenty more....my boy is constantly trying to kill himself. He's definately up for a Darwin award.

Frosted- You just silenced my biological clock.

I guess I can always squirrel money away and hire someone to take care of me in my old age. I think I can live the rest of my life without ever seeing anything like that.

Chad- you now have a story to embarrass your daughter with for the rest of your life. I would emphasize the drama queen-esque-ness of the episode whenever you bring it up. lol

Glad your kid is ok. My daughter swallowed a quarter when she was a wee little thing and after 3 (!!) different emergency rooms, they finally decided to basically plung it down to her stomach. It was probably harder on me than her

Glad she's OK . You should be proud of being the single dad taking care of her, too. (BTW - your sig totally rocks - we need a Boondock Saints thread).

One of my kids decided it would be a good idea to hold on to the garage door handle as it was opening. Now, it would've been pretty funny had she gotten stuck up there, but alas she couldn't fit between the door and the header. She was going up and was scared to let go. The force of the door going up forced her to let go when she reached the top and she came crashing down to the driveway. Cut her head on the header of the garage so there was blood everywhere. I got a call from my wife while I was at work telling me what had happened. I told her to call an ambulance for fear of a head/neck injury. Needless to say there was an ambulance, neck collars, CAT scan, tons of doctors pouring over your kid. Definitely more traumatic for the parents. It was an awful experience. After about two hours when she finally calmed down she announced to the entire hospital that "I'm never going to do that again, daddy."

I remember when we were kids, my little sister somehow stepped on a sewing needle and it went through her toe..... my memory fades if we went to the ER or what?

Glad it all turned out ok Chad. I've made it 12 years so far, with no terrible injuries, but there's still a ways to go :^/
