Lost Series Finale Discussion (Spoilers obviously)

I thought it was ok. One thing that upset me was they got everyone together, but no Michael and Walt? I know they weren't well liked, but if they went through the trouble of getting Shannon and Boone back, they could have got Mike and Walt. And the ending really didn't explain much, but overall it was good.

It left everything unanswered. Was it all a dream?

I wasn't a dream. Jack's father told him it really happened.

I read a quote somewhere on Twitter that said "Lost Finale is proof black people don't go to heaven...", but then I saw Rose and was like oh okay.

The alternate endings on Kimmel pissed me off, I thought it was going to be REAL alternate endings.

And c'mon....they ended 2 ways they said they wouldn't. A long time ago C&L said they didn't write it so the cast was dead/purgatory, and they said they wouldn't have the fadeout ending. That ending was on par with the Soprano's ending/BSG.

That being said, even though it wasn't the ending I expected (Jack & Locke on the beach watching a new ship arrive), it was still decent, it wrapped up the story, and I'm still glad for the past 6 years of Lost.

Yea, All Dogs Go to Heaven! But you're right Chad, I remember the writers saying that as well. Haven't watched the alternate endings yet. I was thinking it would end with Locke and Jack playing that white'black stones game on the beach. They never explained the mythology of the island though. That's what disappointed me.

All dogs do go to Heaven, I heard that somewhere once. I thought the best part of the finale was that it came full circle. That Jack died in the same spot he landed, in the bamboo field, and it ended with his eye closing as it began with his eye opening.

So far I've had a lot answered but still have big questions I have been burning with for a while now.

              Why was Walt so special?
Why did the Dharma drops continue after the purge?
              What was MIB's name?
Was MIB and Jacob's mom a smoke monster too? (she killed an entire village in like 10 seconds, I was wondering this after the last episode)
What was the bird in the beginning of Lost that flew over Hurley and said "Hurley"?
How did MIB know the donkey wheel would work?

And ultimately, C&L said Lost is about the people, not the questions/mysteries - and in the end they resolved the story of the "people" of Lost.

And why is Rose there, if jack fixed the Island, her and her husband should still be there. Then it was all a dream, and none of what seemed to have happened happened? I thought maybe Jack would end up being the new smoke monster, and him and Hurley would resume the role of Jacob and his brother. More I think about the Finale, it sucks even more.

I think calling him MIB was a props to Stephen Kings The Dark Tower. What I want to know is why did they have to protect the island? Why did the smoke monster want off the island, then all of a sudden just want to destroy it?

I think it was an act of revenge, because he was going to get off the island on the boat. I'm not sure if this came before or after, but remember when all of a sudden MIB could get hurt, and so could Jack? I think the "rules" were broken meaning that Jack and MIB could hurt each other, meaning that if MIB destroyed the island - everyone died and he could leave. But that would contradict the rules, so rules or not, it really didn't make much sense. I'm leaning towards the "F*** it!" mentality.

I was REALLY hoping for the ending with Jack and Locke on the beach, and Ben staying and filling in Richard Alpert's role. Seemed like the obvious choice, not the glowing white light in a universal church.

I agree. I did like the Hurley being the new Jacob twist though. I thought it was way too predictable for it to be Jack.

                        Haha, even Locke said that.

Now, who's going to admit that shed a tear at the end? I know I did, it was emotional. I was in a room full of friends, like 10-15 guys I know, and probably 90% of them got choked up at the end.

And if Locke was the smoke monster, then how did he suddenly become human? Did he morph into the real Locke? If he was still the smoke monster, then he should have retained that ability to not get shot, and turn into smoke.

I think whenever Desmond put out the light at the heart of the island, it gave Jack and Locke the ability to be hurt (despite who they were), and the ability to hurt each other. I think in essence it destroyed the rules regarding their place on the island.

But then, were they even alive on the Island? Was there even a smoke monster? Did they all die in the crash? It just goes on and on, and doesn't make any sense, nor wrap up anything. It's worse than the Sopranos finale.
