1,200 National Guard to be deployed to border (it's about time!!!)

WASHINGTON - U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords Tuesday announced the White House has agreed to her requests to deploy National Guard troops to the U.S. border with Mexico.
Giffords called for the Guard's deployment immediately after the March 27, 2010, murder of Cochise County rancher Rob Krentz.
Giffords also says in a statement Tuesday that President Barack Obama will request $500 million in funding for border security.
In 2006, President George W. Bush sent thousands of troops to the border to perform support duties that tie up immigration agents. The troops wouldn't perform significant law enforcement duties.
That program has since ended, and politicians in border states have called for troops to be sent there to curb human and drug smuggling and prevent Mexico's drug violence from spilling over into the United States.

The way obama is handeling this country it won't be long before we all will want to run from the US.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

This was the problem last time we used the national guard, they were disarmed and unable to really do anything because their hands were tied. Once given to ice, ice may or may nto do somethign with them, and worst case scenario they will just send them back to mexico where they will just try to cross the border again and again. Remember that guy this week that raped this chick, he had been deported 7 times already.

Shoot 'em down then. If they knew we meant business, they might think twice.

Obama Channels His Inner John McCain (Bambi tries to follow McQueeg in dash to the right)

Border security makes for strange resemblances. Who knew that Barack Obama would come to look so much like John McCain? And who knew that McCain would come to look so much like J.D. Hayworth? The prospect of an election has that effect on politicians--now everyone wants to be a hawk on border security.
Better late than never, of course, but it's worth remembering who came late to the cause of defending America--because late converts might be temporary converts.
In fact, it wasn't so long ago that both parties, their elites at least, shared a great resemblance on border issues. Both were enamored with open borders, as part of a general enthusiasm for globalization.
                  (snip)
But while the benefits of open borders were being reaped by the elites, the price was being paid along the border, as Arizonans and others know full well. And there are more Arizonans than there are fatcats. When the majority is finally roused to speak with a clear and consistent voice on an issue, politicians pay heed, because they have to.
                  (snip)
But the people should remember that the pols will go back to their old ways, as soon as they think they can get away with it.

Obama Tells GOP Senators He Has Read Arizona Immigration Law
President Obama told Senate Republicans Tuesday that, unlike a couple of his top Cabinet officials, he's read the Arizona immigration -- but he still thinks it opens the door for discrimination.
President Obama told Senate Republicans Tuesday that, unlike a couple of his top Cabinet officials, he's read the Arizona immigration -- but he still thinks it opens the door for discrimination.
The president touched on immigration and border security during a rare, private meeting on Capitol Hill with Senate Republicans. The meeting came after two top officials, Attorney General Eric Holder and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, recently admitted they have not read Arizona's controversial law despite publicly criticizing it.
Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., said he expressed concern during the meeting that administration officials have not bothered to study the law -- at which point the president stressed that he has read it and still has concerns about its implications.
Obama has called the law misguided. He said last week that he's directed the Justice Department to review it.

People don't seem to realize that these illegal Mexican "immigrants" just so happen to be Mexican.

I also heard these "troops" are gonna be mainly observers, they may not even be armed.
