Wow those guys need psychological exams. That's pretty disturbing cruelty.
I hope they get prosecuted.
I don't drink milk. I also don't think videos like this are anywhere near how the vast majority of farmers handle and treat their animals.
I saw a video of a teacher beating one of her students. Doesn't make me want to boycott schools. Just makes me hope that individuals who act inhumanly are identified and removed from society.
First i'd like to say that this video makes me want to go to this Dairy farm and torture this guy with a pitchfork while he's strapped naked to his bed, prodding his testicles until he bled out.
With that being said, I find this video odd. It says this is undercover footage, which it quite obviously is not, second this is only one guy for some reason. (Why is this guy allowed to ruin the product?) Also, in a dairy farm, it seems counter productive to stab, beat and kick the cows breast/utters as that would leave blood in the milk, which means less profit. This guy is obviously a sociopath, the kind who kills small animals as a child, but I find it odd that this guy would allow a documentary style video of him abusing animals at a farm he works at. But this guy deserves to be tortured.
Luckily we have people like the ACLU to make sure terrible people like this are never treated unfairly or abused in anyway. When insurgents do this to our troops, it seems these animal lovers don't shed a tear and fight to the death to make sure they get rights and trials and that they go only to detention centers that include every luxury. What a sick world we live in.
Edit: This video alone is enough for a prosecution. Why is this person not in jail? Animal cruelty charge would be obligatory, and if the owner didn't condone this, than other charges could apply.
Yeah, the problem is that there are hundreds if not thousands of videos like this leaving me to believe that this type of "farming" is not so rare. It's just sad to see human beings acting like that but it's not surprising. I have heard that children in many countries are treated in much the same way. The "hand made" rug industries in India have been accused of buying children, tying them up so they can't escape and then being beaten in order to produce rugs. I have also heard a lot of terrible accusations about garment factories as well.
sgregor - I didn't realize that we had to pick either animal or human rights. Any reason we can't have both?
Any sane person would choose both. I didn't mean you at all, that was just my personal frustration coming out in my post, not in any way about you or vegans or anything like that.
The shit people do sometimes is unbelievable. I used to have friends that liked to torture cats. I thought of that happening to my cat and i'd go into a retard-like rage where I just wanted to murder them for that shit. I don't get it, I understand animals are here to eat, the earth turns sunlight and other energy into a medium which organic life can consume (meat, plants etc), that's fine and normal, but for God's sake, these are living things too. Even most animals have the decency to just kill it and eat it (well, some play with it first). I mean a human being who could do something like this to a living being, no matter how "dumb" they are perceived to be, is not worthy of life themselves. This video makes me f*cking outraged. My dad lives next to this place, i'm going to forward this to him.
What are they collecting donations for though? Why not just submit this to the county and prosecute them? This website seems centered on this one farm and there is ample evidence in this video alone to prosecute, why is this not open and shut?
I am sure lots of animal farmers do shit like this, sadistic hicks with nothing better to do. And you'r right, at least here we do it with animals, in other countries they do it with children. 90% of the world lives in a different reality than we do in europe, America etc. Life is cheap (often times much cheaper than animals life) and women and children are treated the worst. It's absolutely sickening.
shits messed up. no ones going to deny that. but speaking as an ex vegan sellout, its just a losing battle. maybe im just a cynical nihilist piece of shit, but... well... yeah im that.
sgregor - my guess is that the donations are used to continue the investigations. Livestock have little to no protection from abuse and I would be shocked to see anything other than a few token firings as a result of this video. Also, the abusers do get some protection afforded to them under the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act and can go after the producers of these videos for monetary damages this act was co sponsored by our own Diane Feinstein. Between Feinstein's support of this act and the PACT Act, she will NEVER get my vote.
daruckis - being a little hard on yourself tonight? I enjoy reading your posts and would not consider you anything close to a "cynical nihilist piece of shit". Have a portion on me tonight and relax a bit.
Well it's posted on a website so I imagine they would have done it if they were going to. I'm just curious why this guy allowed himself to be videotape while committing a crime, and why they grey his face out in this video. It just seems odd to see one guy being followed by a camera, abusing multiple animals at different times. And really, what moron literally destroys his own product? Of all things, why stick a pitchfork into a dairy cows utters? Lol it's stupid at best.
Either way man, great vid, this is some sick shit, not that I didn't know this was going on. I just can't believe the shit people do sometimes, it's mind-boggling.
Humans are bad. The animal/food industry is not a good thing for animals. And many say non human milk is not meant for adult human consumption. I didn't watch the vid, and after reading the comments, I don't want to.

Dude, look at it this way instead: better to have people giving 100% to a worthy cause than 10% to ten worthy causes. We all must choose our battles, and we are all drawn to our own causes for our own reasons. Having said that, I have felt your same sentiment before. Ever seen that show Whale Wars, about the Sea Shephards? Watching that I wondered what it was about whales and not humans that demands so much of their effort. Then I realized I don't put forth nearly as much effort as they do to help anything but myself, and that shut me the f*k up.
And yeah, milk is wretched. Cheese is good though.

Humans are bad why? We are only doing what nature made us to do.
Meats/Animals are just a vessel the earth uses for containing energy in a medium that is consumable by organic beings (such as ourselves), everyone eats animals, even animals. Animals find and hunt other animals, we just grow them in a cage to make the hunt that much more effortless, so now for a mere 5-10$ I can have a big juicy steak without having to break a sweat or lift a finger. It's beautifull, every animal would be jealous.
But we need to be humane, this is why I try to eat Kosher food whenever possible. I'm likethe indians, if I hunted an animal to kill it, I would do it humanely and tell the animal "sorry friend", and thank the earth for bringing it to me. It sucks but we gotta eat, it's just how the universe works.
As for milk, milk is relitavely new in our food pyramid, humans have only consumed dairy milk for not that long compared to other things, so some people havn't developed the appropriate microbes in their body to digest it properly, therefore they become lactose intolerant. The asian community is especially prone to being lactose intollerant. But for those of us who can stomach it, milk is relitavely nutritious and tasy, nothing really bad about it.
Y'know, I chose not to watch that vid this morning 'cos it was within the first hour pf me being awake and I didn't want to start the day like that. I'm glad I skipped it in the AM. That's some sick stuff. It makes me angry to see people do things like that.
On the one hand it's probably an effective method to get this animal to do what you want it to do, but it was over the top, IMO. It also seemed as if the humans almost enjoyed this. That's the part that's even more disturbing. And the pitchfork. Oh my...
I love skim milk, but after that I think it'll take longer for me to use the gallon that's in the fridge.
I think Sgregr1 touched on an important point. It has a lot to do with supply and demand and if the means to the end is out of sight then it's out of mind. It truly is organized to make the hunt effortless. And with that costs are involved and always become an issue. Reduce the costs and maximize the profits. Maybe a few more handlers or a better quality handler is the answer, but that increases costs. The living space for these animals, the food they eat, the daily grind that they have to go through all contribute to this sort of thing. The stress that the handlers might go through to accomplish their duties enter into it too. I don't think there's any one clear answer but I bet that food can be mass produced without this type of brutality but when there's a need for so much of it something like this is bound to happen. How much does it happen? probably not on every farm, but I wouldn't guess that this is an isolated incident.
I work with a guy who says often "We can train just about anyone to do just about any job, but the key to success is getting the right people to do the right job." The manager of this farm clearly fails at that. Disgusting.

LOL. A ways away from where I grew up there are these bluffs. The gentle, humane native americans used to chase the buffalo over the cliff at one end of the bluff. Dozens of them would then fall to the bottom of the cliff. Where, broken and bleeding, they were finished off by the women and children. You can still find old bones and arrow heads at the base of these (or you could 20 years ago). There was also one of these where the base of the cliff was a stream - they named the town after the sound the buffalo made as they fell in - Chugwater.
Maybe they sang a song about it later or something - I don't know, but don't buy into the romantic, gentle, eco-friendly, indian BS.
I'm not saying they were evil - they had a rough life and they lived with hardship that precluded concern over the sorts of things we get all angsty over in our life of plenty.
