There are a multitude of forums available for me to talk politics but only one decent one that focuses on the US snus user. It would behoove all of you (and benefit me, as well) if the extreme political talk could be taken somewhere where it is more appropriate. Honestly, I have been visiting this site less and less as the most active conversations seem to have shifted to stilted political views rather than snus and its users.....

Ok, here's the more finger pointing version of my previous post.
I read a post where someone mentioned that "national socialism" was their preferred form of government and there was almost no reaction. For the historically inept, that is referring to the Nazi party. Why would I want to be part of a community that didn't care about closet nazis but thinks that Obama is some sort of monster? At least the tobacco commentary has some basis in experience and fact. If I wanted to hear about farcical scenarios of international intrigue (why the **** would we want to start a war in Korea? It makes no ****ing sense) then I'd go to the loose change forums.
Edit: that being said, I understand that one can only talk about snus so long and the last thing that I want is for the mods to become deputized to police content. There's no easy answer but I do know that I hate to come here and read the same dead-end, biased, unfair debates that one can find anywhere on the internet.

There is nothing new or compelling about my story but the very mundane nature of it speaks to the true value of this venue...helping to highlight another option that is available to fellow nicotine addicts/users/whatever that doesn't carry the same long term impact of more well known and more commonly used tobacco products.

That some people react or not is probably mostly related to the amount of boredom they are experiencing at the moment.
Feel free to jump in and react whenever you like.

Welcome to SnusOn cthulu!
You can't take this stuff too seriously, it's only politics. I imagine it's Tom your talking about with the Nazi stuff :^D He's an alright guy. I'm not sure about his politics, but he's alright. We have room for Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, Anarchists, Communists, and even Nazis. If you take away the war machine, and the extermination stuff, they were pretty mainstream as far political ideologies go :^D
The point is, you're bound to get pissed off in political threads. You can then choose to engage and take what comes, or ignore the political stuff. I generally ignore the political threads, and the ones I get in, I seldom see through the end. Nobody's gonna change their mind about anything from an argument on SnusOn, so it's all just for the sport of it. It's like rugby. You gotta be prepared to play, or just sit out. If you aren't prepared, you'll just get hurt :^)
I don't think we've gone too far where people can't get around the politics. There's enough threads to go around, but everybody needs to exercise self control :^)

Although in the "super efficient killing machines of the 20th century" category they are pretty similar.

I don't have a problem with discussions of politics, religion, or any other controversial subject, as long as people can be civil about it. But when it degenerates into name-calling and the kind of banter better suited to a high school locker room, I quickly go back to the less controversial threads. Unfortunately, it seems that agreeing to disagree is becoming a lost art, and that most people no longer feel obliged to behave respectfully towards those they disagree with. I believe it was Heinlein who first noted that a lack of courtesy is the first symptom of a civilization in decline.
