Sorry tom you couldn't. The word snus literally means snuff in English so as long as you put it in your mouth it is indeed oral snuff.

They are stupid rules. The county around Orlando Florida took it a step further and outlawed any form of tobacco use anywhere on county property for it's workers.

No one could not. Snus is a Swedish word for snuff, and it is used in your mouth, so it's kind of a textbook definition of oral snuff.

My job has a big no tobacco policy. Retail, so I can understand they don't want someone spitting or talking to customers with a big wad of dip/chew, and you obviously can't smoke. I've been called up to the office once and told there was a complaint that I use chewing tobacco on the clock. I didn't bother trying to explain the difference, just said, "Yeah, I've got some in my coat, but I don't use it on the floor." Boss didn't even notice the portion I had in then, just told me that I should try and be more careful brushing my teeth, maybe someone saw a little bit of leaf stuck between them. I figure somebody saw me putting in a portion, so I just make sure to go to the bathroom and put portions in there.

They just posted a bulletin at my work re-iterating how important the dress code was and in big bold letter it said "Do NOT wear clothing that makes it look like you just came back from a night club at the Woodland Hills office"

Many times it's the insurance companies that are prompting employers to adopt these ridiculous measures. They offer lower group rates to employers that have "no nicotine use" policies, claiming that nicotine in any form is so damaging to health that it drives up health care costs. Of course that's utter nonsense and propaganda when applied to snus, although with cigarettes they may have a point.

A few employers have gone so far as to add blood testing for nicotine to their standard drug testing for new hires. If you've got nicotine in your bloodstream, sorry, no job. Damn health Nazis.

My company utitlizes health credits. If your Dr signs off on a form saying your BMI is under a certain amount, that your blood pressure is good and that you don't smoke, they will give you 60$ off your insurance bill each month. Pretty good deal, especially since my Dr thinks I don't snus.

I've been smoke free for two months now after 25 years of smoking. And i owe it all to Snus. My job has informed us that our medical insurance will increase next year for anyone who smokes or uses any tobacco products ,including any smokeless tobacco products. I stopped smoking for my own health concerns, however i'm not sure how or if they will test associates for tobacco use . If they do somehow and see nicotine in my system, who's to say if i'm using tobacco products,dip,snus or a nicotine patch ! workplace policys and insurance companys are getting out of hand. I'll just have to wait and see what happens and if asked, i'll tell them i quit smoking and i'm on the patch!

When I use to take my smoke breaks you could actually feel the disgust from my manager and higher ups. After awhile I found out that three of the people who have authority over me and a few others were all dippers.

It is okay for them to walk around with a big dip but if I went for a break on my break it was very much looked down upon.

After switching to Snus the respect level, not that I even cared "changed" overnight.

LOL, literally, I laughed out loud when I read that.

The trashcan in my office is located in a corner, behind me and to the right. Often I'll just turn my head and spit the portion at the can. Sometimes I make it, sometimes I don't. Sometimes I hit a bank shot off the wall. My aim is actually getting pretty good. I'm surpised no one has asked me yet what those little brown stains on the wall are from.
