I think Turkey would get their butts kicked. There would a dozen Turkish ships at the bottom of the Mediterranean and many dozens of Turkish aircraft plummeting from the skies in flames. Turks would be fighting for some vague sense of disapproval for disputed actions by the Israelis while Israelis would be fighting for their very survival. That sharpens the mind and the martial spirit most effectively.

I think if Turkey had the funding Israel did(the bottomless wallet of the USA), they could handily defeat Israel. That's why I mentioned Pakistan. They don't have the bottomless wallet, but they have enough to keep things going long enough for Israel's unhappy neighbors to see results, and get involved.

Pakistan has too many valuable political affiliations with countries that would disapprove. They've also got they're hands full with the Taliban presently.

A mere parity, or even superiority, of arms would be unlikely to ensure anything like a decisive victory of Turkey over Israel. The Turks simply can not match the Israeli air force in training, discipline or aggressiveness and air power would be the telling difference. Turkey could not get useful numbers of troops anywhere near Israel without taking horrendous losses. Too many factors mitigate against such idiocy. The three defense forces of the modern world with the most experience and best training are the US, the UK, and Israel. Turkey is a big country with a sizable army but the reality is that they would be way overmatched in any putative clash even if they got billions from Pakistan or anywhere else for that matter. A national decade long crash effort to modernize and train up their ground, sea, and air forces would be required to prevent the Turks from being mangled by the Israelis. They aren't likely to be that pissed off for that long. The Turks should ask the Egyptians about what a swell idea it is to invade Israel.

I think that they really need to sort out what they're achieving by the blockade and just what exactly they are blockading. From what I understand - it's not just arms which isn't really cricket.
They should be offered a Palestinian state - but the Israelis won't have it unless the Palestinian State recognises Israels right to exist. Back to the old catch 22.

After listening to the radio tapes of their conversation with the boat prior to boarding, I don't feel bad for the protestors at all. They are talking about "go back to asuchwitz" and "Don't forget 9-11" etc etc. It's very clear who is talking and what is going on. They were coming looking to start a fight and they got one. NO, they did not. People are claiming they doctored them, not faked them. By doctored they mean that they cut out all the blank spaces and just showed what was said. After people complained they released the full version with the quiet parts in there too and it still sounded just as bad.
