But still used the same aftershave Str8.. could it be the after shave... it's really annoying... :\
Have you ever used a DE before? I remember when I first started, I had razor burn pretty frequently, and there are many factors that can cause it. Maybe the blade you're using isn't good for your face, there are many to try. Could be the soap or cream you're using isn't offering enough lubrication for the blade, could be the blade angle (how you're holding it) is too agressive, and you could be putting too much pressure. Too much pressure was my issue. You have to hold the razor very gingerly, first two fingers and thumb.

Oh, and shave prep is probably one of the most important things you can do for yourself to improve your shaves. Especially on the neck. The neck is my sensitive area as well, so I make certain to soften the beard on my neck by holding a hot towel on it before lathering up.

You may want to head over to www.badgerandblade.com and do some reading...it helped me immensely. Good luck, dude. Let us know how it works out.

Never used a DE before..... I'm quite un-skilled .... I've noticed that the movement should be done very gently since I was bleeding as well...

I had a one hour bath before so I think the preparation wasn't the issue .... I suspect the after-shave though.. and the movement of the razor... I usually did it in all directions with the mach3.

Thanks for the site........ will have to do some more reading.

I went back to that thrift store to get another one of those Fatboys I saw the other day. When I got mine they had 3. Today they had none I asked him what happened to the others. He said I had no idea what they were, but when you seemed so happey to get one I googled them and now they are on Ebay for $59.00.

Welcome to the world of DE shaving - half the fun is going into an antique store or garage sale and finding a beautiful razor for under $10.00. Just beware of cracked handles. They can be hard to spot sometimes and although they are common among Gillettes, they will also make the price go way down.

It may be official, Feathers are my favorite blades. I find that in my Gillette ball tech, they do a fantastic job, but in the SS that Bakerbarber sent to me..they're hella aggressive. When using the SS I have to use Derby blades, then it's like butter.

I'm flying out to Davenport IA tomorrow. I'm hoping I won't have any problems with packing my razor in my checked baggage. Anyone have any experience with flying with your DE?

I've flown internationally with my DE razor in my checked baggage and it has never proved to be a problem. I usually leave one blade in the razor and take a sealed pack of blades along in case. I have however taken the blade out and packed the razor in my carry on. As long as there is no blade and security can clearly see that (I took the razor apart - 3 piece) there doesn't seem to be an issue with having it on you.

Here's some DE prono for Y'ALL.

The Red White and Blue is a Slim Adjustable the wife painted for me.

                    Toggle of course.

The black handle was custom made for me. Guy at work turned down a stainless steel bolt and tapped threads into it for me. I dunked it in plasti-dip for grip and LOVE IT!!

RC, glad you like the SS. Those old ones without date codes are nice. They get milder as the models go on. The older ones, sans red tip, get very gentle. When they switched to flair tip and black enameled handle they got pretty tame.

I have a few NOS 1978's that I'm giving as Christmas presents. My brother's birth year razor. I personally prefer the more aggressive razors and adore open combs. Some day I'll take a line up photo shoot of my shave den and razor collection. I can personally recommend that none of the snus bretheren waste a solitary penny acquiring a Merkur Vision. Stupid humongous monstrosity that is a mockery of the daily humble ritual.

I like the Toggle, but it costs a fraction of what some of the New stainless steel and palladium coated razors are going for.

Vintage DE are the way to go for a razor. Blades are cheap and of personal preference.

I'd take a Tech, a Gillette lady, or a Schick Krona and injector over a new DE razor any day!!

I don't have enough posts to BST on B&B.

Go buy my stuff on eBay so I can celebrate Christmas this year.

I'll be selling ugly ass holiday sweaters too. If you don't wear the ugliest sweater you can find to parties this season then YOU ARE WITH THE TERRORISTS!!!

                            Don't have a 'store' bud.

                            Try this. http://shop.ebay.com/bakerbarber/m.h...&_trksid=p3686

In the next four days I will be listing many many sweaters. If you don't see something you like right now, WAIT. By Monday I will have a few dozen listings!!

I bet you are not using enough angle. If your angle is off you will tear your face up. Try a 20 degree angle or less to your face with the blade. I bet you were over 45 degrees on your last shave. Angle is super important when differentiating between a bad shave and an awesome shave.

Also, most folks get irritation for the first couple weeks after switching to a new shaving method, myself included. All my life I've had that problem, cartridge, straights, DE, electric. Everytime I have ever switched to a new method, I'd get irritation. It will go away as your skin toughens up and gets used to the new equipment. Same as with newbies having gum soreness when trying snus for the first time - it goes away.
