No, of course not they are a huge international company.

I just don't see any point to a boycott. If any sort of boycott actually hurt their bottom line, all it will do is decrease the ease with which they cover the clean-up costs. So, they'd probably look at them with more scrutiny, fight some of them, etc.

A boycott should be used when it has a chance of making a difference.

    Ultimately, we want:
    1. The mess cleaned up
    2. People in the gulf region to not suffer
    3. This to not happen again

A boycott seems either to not help or even hurt these goals.

I don't know that there is anything he can do as far as stopping the leak.

The on-shore response and the containment as well as logistics could probably be helped with though.

There's also supposed to be a billion dollar "rainy day fund" funded by industry fees that could be tapped. (well, except that we are broke and all of these "funds" only exist on paper)

The government has been providing help and they just sent BP their first bill for what our gov has done so far, $69 million.

I think if everyone did a run on the banks, and I mean everyone, we would be devistated to find out that most of our money is really just numbers in a database somewhere.

This whole thing is very terrible, and it's such a disaster to nature and the animals, I don't even want to watch it on the news. I hope they get it fixed. I do wonder if that removed oil will now leave a cavern, which could lead to earthquakes next.

So it's still leaking? Oh only 90-95 percent is leaking after weeks much better.

The reality is that we are going to have to wait till August for them to drill the relief well. They may soak upa few drops by then but realistically we are going to have tens of thousands of barrels of oil squirting out of that thing daily for the next few months.

This will probably get better as I understand.

There are a series of vents in the cap that still need to be closed (they needed to be open to put the "funnel" part onto the leak).

Once those are closed. It would seem like, IMO, you could just vary the suction on the line to increase the amount of oil being collected - not sure though.

I agree. I'm usually not one to put on my blinders and be ignorant, but neither me nor my wife can even watch it on TV anymore as it is such a sad situation. Hell, I can't even watch those animal cruelty charity commercials without crying like a little girl!
