Tea Party favorite Dr. Rand Paul is NOT a board-certified doctor, claims report

Looks like the only medical certification Dr. Rand Paul may have is his own.

Kentucky Senate candidate Rand Paul has touted his experience as an eye doctor, but his certification is not recognized by the American Medical Association.

According to the Courier-Journal in Louisville, The Tea Party booster is not a "board-certified" ophthalmologist.

Paul, instead, is certified by the National Board of Ophthalmology, a group he founded in 1999 and currently serves as the head of.

He responded to the charges earlier today. "It's a personal assault on my ability to make a living," he said.

Paul, who is known for his strict libertarian views, claimed that he started his board in protest of the American Board of Ophthalmology, an AMA-certified board.

This more legit board requires doctors certified after 1992 to recertify every decade.

"I thought this was hypocritical and unjust for the older ophthalmologists to exempt themselves from the recertification exam," Paul wrote.

"Is it fair that the ophthalmologist down the street can claim board certification, without renewing it, but that a younger ophthalmologist, who passed the same boards, is disallowed?"

Many doctors are trained and work, and are not "board certified".

The left, right and one party system elites are terrified of this guy and thus the mass crucifixion.
Might of worked a decade ago but with both parties now proven at sinking this country people are more open to outsiders.

So how is the one that has less oversite and looser rules on certification more "legit"? Sounds like his board has a higher standard. I like his thinking, he saw something wrong and said "I could do it better", then was pro-active and went and did it to a higher standard. Bravo Americano

I stick with a real boar certified doctor. I don't trust someone that heads
their own board and polices themselves.

Yes like someone who is self employed and polices themselves? I find your post funny Joe because even though he's not board certified he is still twice as experienced as Obama. So not sure why you see this as a bad thing.

Now for an opthamologist joke.... Eye don't see the problem here at all.

Joe you don't trust a tea party endorsed candidate Libertarian Republican. I'm sure if he was a socialist you'd have no problem with his board certification credentials.

I had been a registered Libertarian. I am currently a registered Republican. I did this to
vote in our closed primary. I will have to switch back or go independent. There is a
wide spectrum of Libertarians. Some of the more liberal ones are Penn Gillette and
Bill Maher. Noam Chomsky says he's a Libertarian/Socialist.

Why do the American leftists love Che, Chavez, and Castro, but they don't like Ahmedinijad, and Kim Jong Il?

I'm more a hardline state socialist, that supports individual libertarianism. Hence, I can't find a party I agree with.
