Time Traveler From The Year 2036

I'm sure some of you have probably already heard of "John Titor", the alleged man who traveled back in time from the year 2036 and made end time predictions. But if you haven't, it is an interesting and strange story. I first heard of it while listening to the radio show Coast to Coast AM (great late night radio if you like ghost stories and such) While most likely an elaborate hoax, it is still one of those things that will spark questions and make you think.

EDIT: Actually, now that I think about it, the fact that he never mentioned an oil spill in 2010 that is 14 times larger than the Exxon-Valdez spill is just one more nail in the coffin of this urban legend. Unless....the oil spill is necessary for some reason.

EDIT (Again!): Well, apparently I should refrain from starting a thread while drinking beer, red wine, and Wild Turkey. I started this thread under "Chaw Talk" instead of "World Around Us". It also didn't help that I had a chaw of Days O' Work plug tobacco in at the same time. So, if any of you moderators would be kind enough to shove me over to the "World Around Us" category, I would appreciate it, as I have yet to figure out how to do it myself. I usually don't read gov't mandated warning labels, but it seems my computer qualifies as "Operating Heavy Machinery"

I've listened to Cost to Coast a few times. I think most of it is just plain silly, but it can be mildly entertaining and makes for good fodder sometimes. I liked Art Bell better but George is good

I really got hooked on the show when I was working graveyard shifts. There was just something about driving down dark desolate roads at 3 AM and listening to stories of the paranormal that made me hesitant to look in my rearview mirror...or the backseat!

The article does mention that his intervention in the Millennium Bug issue may have altered our timeline in comparison to his own. So now were experiencing events he never encountered in his timeline or something.

S*#T, my fault. Now if I can just figure how to fix it. However, the future may like good chaw considering it has low TSNA's and snus will probably be outlawed by the government by 2036, or at least carry a 500% tobacco tax.

I have a subscription to Coast to Coast (5$) so I can download all of their stuff to my ipod to listen to at work. 98% of the stuff is just blatant entertainment, but they do have some amazgin guests that talk about non-fringe related stuff. Not just joe nobodies but physicists and people who write about quantum physics and stuff and don't get into the UFO's and big foot. I love the show personally, it's one of my favorite. To me listening to glenn beck or the radio heads gets boring and repetitive while i'm at work, so I tend to listen to C2C and Alex Jones because it's just so much more entertaining. plus if you listen enough, you occasionally learn something.


John Titor is fake for a series of reasons I won't get into. Mainly his whole plot didn't make sense to me, he came back in time to get a part for some late 80's computer because in the future they neeed to use a computer from the 80's but didn't know how to work it. (Considering you could find a digital copy of the manual and/or learn the programming code from one of the many programming e-books, I doubt they couldn't figure it out).

Definately fits in the "cool story bro" catagory.

Titor described his time machine as a 'C204 time distortion gravity displacement machine' built by General Electrics in 2034. It weighed approximately 500 pounds and was transported in a 1966 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible, which also acted as Titor's vessel as he travelled through time. The vehicle did not move through space but remained stationary with the engine switched off. Some time later the time machine was removed from the Corvette and placed in a 1987 four wheel drive truck and the Corvette was sold, which has led to speculation about where it may now be and who bought it."


Other than the fact that he is blatantly plageurizing the Back to The future movies, this whole thing doesn't seem like how it would work if it happened in real life. Follow me here:

It's 2036, this is not a long time away, I will be alive to see this. The government has developed time travel and chooses some random guy to be the first to travel back in time to get a computer model which apparently have all been lost to time in 30 years from now. Instead of sending the military they send some joe. The joe then goes on to spend the majority of his time faxing shit to Art Bell, blogging about his time machine, or talking in internet chat rooms.

Then he apparently single handedly reprogrammed every electronic device in 1999 to avoid the y2k disaster, which he previousely predicted would cause global catastrophe. But he "intervened", meaning he not only fixed it, but also tricked hundreds of thousands of IT experts that actualy DID fix it into thinking they were the ones who solved the y2k problem when really it was just him. So he can reprogram electronics in 1999, but the future government couldnt figure out how to work an IBM 5100?





Now let's check out his predictions:

"According to Titor, the period of conflict begins at the time of the American Presidential elections of 2004/5 when the seeds for a second American civil war are germinated. The nature of the conflict is described as civil unrest brought on by intrusive police-state tactics, which leads to an increasing number of Waco or Ruby Ridge-type events"

What I want to know is, just who is the guy behind all of this. Do you think he will ever come forward to get his 15 seconds of fame (or shame) or at least to try to make some money off of it. He's probably one of those grown men who still live in the basement of his mother's house. (Disclaimer: No offense to anyone here who still lives in the basement of their mother's house.)
