Well, the Black Muslims, esp those of Farrakhan Nation of Islam, is akin to a black christian Indentity racist movement. They have far out beliefs that say their founder was God in human form, and that white devils were created by a scientist with a big head. They also state on their website they want inter-racial relationships to be illegal, black children only taught by black teachers, all blacks released from jail and prison because they are black, and a black homeland on the American land.

But it is no different than many people that pick and choose certain verses from the books of their religions and run with it.

Sgreger...most slaves were prisoner's of war. that's the difference. It wasn't a good thing no, but there is a difference between being a POW slave and still being able to work your way to freedom than getting thrown in a boat and forced to work till you die.

The first slaves were I suppose POW's in a way, but the subsequent generations were like all other slaves. I mean we took slaves who were slaves in one country and made them slaves in our country. The only difference betweeen a POW slave and a regular slave is how much you paid to get them.

Look im in no way defending slavery, simply pointing out that American white men did not invent slavery by a long shot, yet for some reason we are hated by everyone for doing something that at the time was as common as drinking tea.

Ah I mis read your post tom you did say many. The selling off goes more toward the religious side, they were viewed as inferior and not as human. Even though the Ones that sold them off were black, they were usually the lighter ones in charge that sold them off since they could claim to not be dark skinned and therefore the the Verses in the Quran did not apply to them. Which is why I don't understand black muslims.

Black muslims are about as much of a contradiction as gay christians.

I think we need to update our religions, if your going to follow fairytales it should at least be in a more contempory setting. Stoning people for adultery and being gay=the devil just doesn't work in today's society.

I agree, it has been done all throughout history it's time to move on though. If you stay stuck in the past you can not build a future.

That may have something to do with the fact that the christian son of God was a self proclaimed jew. He tried to claim he was the son of God and the jews weren't buying it. Turns out they were right, he bled like every other man and never accomplished anything of lasting value. I mean it's nice to say he died for our sins, but really what has changed since his death, what has gotten better? Looks like the jews were right. If your god can get beaten and then forceably nailed to a cross, please don't hail that as some accomplishment for humanity, call it was it is, weakness.
