    Scandinavian Music

So I figured since we all enjoy Scandinavian tobacco so much why not share some great Scandinavian bands that we enjoy with each other and open ourselves up to a better form of entertainment as well. I'll start out by throwing Volbeat out there. They have some really heavy guitars and one of the most melodic and bad ass lead singers I've heard in a long time. Here's an excerpt from Wikipedia -

Volbeat is a Danish rock band formed in Copenhagen in 2001. They play a fusion of early rock 'n' roll, heavy metal and rockabilly. They are inspired by the rock 'n' roll legends Metallica, Social Distortion, Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash.[1]

Is their inspirations not enough proof that they kick ass? Some good singles of theirs to check out are "Still Counting", "Guitar Gangsters and Cadillac Blood", and I really enjoy their cover of "I only want to be with you".

Yeah, I did a similar thread about a month ago. I actually got quite a few good responses on it. Daruckis, I think you was one of them. Except mine was titled "Scandinavian Metal". Experimental Monkey, you are not alone: http://www.snuson.com/forum/showthre...dinavian-Metal

Can't believe no one has said it already:
              ABBA, of course!

Not a big Abba fan, though they do have some songs I like.
                I do like The Sounds.

Got some ettan in and listening to Bathory. On a side note I think Im gonna go out and get caught up on some Amon Amarth reissues or maybe try and snag TYR's new album.

If anyone on here likes folkish style music check out Wardruna.

I really dig Wardruna. I can't wait for their next album. It's a lot like tribal/atmospheric Norse/Viking music. They use mostly all natural instruments, deerskin drums, bones for percussion, etc... and two of the members used to be in Gorgoroth. Good stuff. I wish there was more bands out there that put out stuff like Wardruna does, but I haven't found any yet that even come close.

I only own one Amon Amarth album, and that's Odin's Ride. I like all the songs on the album, some are really catchy, but there's just something about their sound that doesn't click with me. They sound a lot like Kataklysm, or Kataklysm sounds a lot like Amon Amarth. I'm not sure who formed first and their both from different sides of the world.

I used to really like Kataklysm until I noticed the sounds of the pic scraping the guitar strings coming through in every song. After that I would just focus on that freaking sound and couldn't just ignore it.
If you can check Wardruna out on youtube there is some really cool vids of them playing on there. Finntroll has and album that comes close. Its call Visor Om Slutet. Check it out.
                          Cranking some Lizzy Borden now.

I think the best, and most unique of the Swedish death metal bands are Unleashed.

Thanks. I've been watching those Wardruna videos for a while. Their singer Linda Fay Hella is hot! I love her voice.
