Human = Homo Sapien = Species.

Great Dane and Pomeranian. Same species. Different Charecteristics.

Big L, totally forgot my French canadien root(s). The funniest thing ever is people always mis-pronounce my last name, In quebec, thy always get it right, guess that says something.

I guess I never really think about or identify with my ethnic heritage. I usually don't ask others either because I like to interact with people as individuals without regard to stereotypes or cultural perceptions getting in the way.

Besides I think one of my great grandparents was adopted. So if I say I'm "whatever" because my ancestors lived in a geographical region doesn't mean I have blood relations to specific nationality. My grandmother lived in South Africa, but was born in Italy. What does that mean? The jerks at Ellis Island spelled people's names phonetically if they couldn't understand an accent. How many descendants have an Americanized name either accidentally or intentionally? Some emigrants changed their surname on purpose to escape countless ugly reasons of humanity.

I especially despise being asked to fill in race on any kind of form. I ALWAYS check other. I'm not a statistic, I'm a human being. An individual.

I have a brother. Same parents. We're completely different people. How does generalizing people by race have any relevance?

What if I'm African heritage and have full blown vitiligo? How should I answer? What if I'm Northern European and go tanning 8 days a week?

If this forum were about water would any of us be interested if Greeks liked it more than Inuits? What if Asians preferred a different brand than Indians. Would we say that's the Asian water and that's the Indian water?

I work for a radical religious self righteous bigot who espouses his views on everyone whether they want to listen or not. I grew up in a rough and gritty town and was raised to treat people equally. Every day I feel like grabbing this asshat by the back of his head and tossing him through a wall. I grew up with every race and mix thereof. I have friends across all socio economic and sexual spectrums.

I like to think that my friends don't just see me as the straight, agnostic, white guy. I hope they don't hang out with there own race or religion or sexual orientated friends and pat themselves on the back for being friends with me like it's a badge of honor or heroic leap of tolerance and progressive living to know me.

I don't like when people joke about their faults and shrug them off as inborn tendencies of their nature either. I firmly believe that all men are created equal and that through a series of decisions over a lifetime they develop into who they are. For whatever reasons.

So chalk up a cracker to your list of snus users. Let me know how the stats pan out.

I'm the guy with the face and the shoes. You know the one with the two ears and eyebrows. I use snus.

Regarding race I'm reminded of an IceCube lyric. "life aint a track meet, it's a marathon." Race is a funny word. I'm in no hurry to get to the end... I heard the ribbons are crappy and the spectators aren't watching.

                  +1

It's not that I care about somebody's race, It's just that people that try to use that eh idk it gets to me.
But I agree with you and my sig and snuffy. I couldn't care less what someone's race is. The color of one's skin doesn't make them the person they are.
