It used to be only for officers. Then they opened it up to retirees and active. Now it is open to any honorably discharged veteran.

None of them are getting my money. Anything that vaguely resembles the general image of a bank is not touching my cash ever again. I'm going asian and just keeping it in a sock under my bed, let them eat cake.

AMEN! I manage about $13 million for my company but for 20 years my wife and I never had a budget. We sat down at the beginning of the year and mad a cash flow spreadsheet and hard budgeted out 12 months and soft budgeted for 5 years and it has been awesome. We have plenty of money and for once a sense of serenity financially

When I was 19-20 years old I had similar problems. Then I started depositing my checks and withdrawing cash for general expenses. Today I only use a debit card for online purchases and gasoline and haven't had a bounced check in years.

                Hope this helps.

I have a budget, but I don't track each and every expense. It gets too dificult because if I buy a soda at a gas station and forget to log it, it throws the whole thing off. I'm sure there's an app for that

My wife is, as you would imagine, very pissed that this has occured. Perhaps there is an app for that?

You see, the problem is our current generation was conned into using these little plastic crds instead of cash, Managing 5,10 or whatever purchases a day is a lot different than balancing a check book 30 yrs ago, people didn't make every purchase on a card. And also, nobody wanted these cards, the banks were like drug dealers in the beginning, bending over backwards to make it easy and sell the system for free, Here man have a lil taste, no charge. Then they get em hooked and the blood letting begins. I just hate it and have figure out another wa to do business, always have cash and find work arounds. screw the banks and there usury.....

Ooo a thread about hating BOA! Here's my recent rant. I haven't lived with my parents in over 10 years, I actually live in a different state, but just went for a visit and my Mom handed me some mail that had been delivered to their house. It was from BOA and inside contained a BOA debit card, my current one is not near expiration and I did NOT request a new card. Why this was delivered to their address, I have no clue, I even opened my account AFTER leaving home, I have never given BOA that address. It was just very suspicious and irresponsible IMO. What other old addresses are they sending my cards to? Anyway, your post got me all fired up to quit procrastinating, I just opened a local account with a credit union so now I can close BOA accounts. SCREW THEM!

And what's more is that I did not request a loan, nor is this a credit card, it is a checking account where I deposit the money and I don't require that they cover for me if it goes over, I would rather they just not allow the transaction. ....
You could always blame Fredrik for charging you for that Thunder Frosted that he didn't ship yet...... It's all his fault. /sarcasm off

I track monthly bills, and have a bi weekly running total of available cash. So you really only update common bills, and use the balance to see how free cash is sitting. No need to track each little transaction that way.

I've found that using cash, I spend less money overall. It really makes you judge whether or not that soda is worth it if you only have $30 for miscellaneous stuff during the week.

Really thought I just suck at keeping all the receipts from using a debit/credit card and always something gets missed or the gas pump is out of paper so I forget to enter it and then you get zinged for another $40 by the bank if something doesn't clear. Cashiers do look at you funny when you pay with real money. I've seen them stare at their computer screen while I politely hold out my money. Sometimes I will wave it around like a fan to get their attention.

The banks are trying to squeeze you for every penny they can. They don't make any money on checking accounts and the method of stacking the transactions from greatest to least results in more income for them and they can apparently get away with it.
