    COMMUNISTS ARE AMONG US!!! *gasp*

No but really, what do you guys think about these 11 spies that they just captured. They seem like an odd bunch and didn't seem like they were trying to get into government, but instead to mingle within elite circles to try and collect info. But info on what?

Then the feds allege that one of the financiers is a big political donor to his friend who is a sitting cabinet member, but they won't release who the cabinet member is.

One of them skipped bail yesterday and tried to fly to budapest btu got caught. What do you think their mission was?

Why won't they release the cabinet members name?

I heard about that on BBC radio the other night. The analysts on there couldn't figure it out either. It was a ton of money expended for very little gain.

Here's the best i've read on it so far, has all the little details.

For the most part it sounded like the russians commisioned this spy team to live in america, and over the years to get into positions that will have you bumping shoulders with important people. Little info was actually collected it seems. I think the goal was so that these people would have relationships or contacts within the elite circles so taht if moscow should require information, they already have established contacts. I think it was more for future convenience incase they wanted info rather than spies trying to get important info today.

Damnit, grandpa was right, the commies are everywhere lol.

EDIT: But it was weird though, like one of the spies tried to get moscow to let him buy his house but moscow said they wanted to continue owning it. Why was he trying to buy it out? Then one of the spies became disenfranchised with moscow and went to leave the country which prompted the FBI to arrest eevryone before he fled. Seems like a real rag-tag operation to me.

            Everyone spies on everyone.

            But I liked this quote:
One of the Murphys' neighbors, who asked not to be named, also noticed "unusual" traits. "He clearly was Russian with a name of Murphy—I thought it was weird," said the neighbor, who lived near their home in Montclair, N.J., which records show the Murphys purchased in August 2008 for $481,000.

When news broke of their arrest, this person said, "I just wasn't that surprised."

Okay, upon furhter inevstigation, I have concluded that Russia is in worse condition than t was after the fall of the USSR. Check out how TERRIBLE at everything these spies are. Hint: Lead spy chick used 99 fake street as her address etc.

Take the case of Anna Chapman, the 28-year-old who ran an online real estate business in Manhattan and has been on the cover of the New York Post for the last few days. The complaint against Chapman describes her agreeing to meet with on undercover FBI agent posing as a Russian consulate official -- even though, presumably, none of her actual contacts at the consulate had vouched for the official.
(Sample dialogue: Undercover agent: "Are you ready for this [next] step?" Chapman: "Shit, of course.")

Chapman complained of technical difficulties with the laptop she used to make contact with actual Russian officials -- and then, breaking the cardinal don't-give-your-secret-agent-computer-to-a-stranger rule of espionage, actually handed over the laptop to the undercover agent for fixing, according to the complaint.

Later on, Chapman went into a Verizon store in Brooklyn and tossed the Verizon bag into the garbage, which was then retrieved by the FBI, according to the complaint. In it they found "a customer agreement for the purchase of a Motorola cellphone. The customer agreement was in the name of 'Irine Kutsov,' and indicated a customer address of '99 Fake Street.' (That's right off Apocryphal Drive.)

Then there's the fact that, as the New York Times observed, the alleged agents apparently didn't produce any particularly useful information about the U.S. government.

For some reason the SVR (the Russian intel agency) was particularly pleased when defendant Cynthia Murphy, "using contacts she had met in New York, conveyed a number of reports to Center about prospects for the global gold market," according to the complaint. Moscow dubbed that "v. usefull [sic]" and passed it on to the minister of finance immediately.

I mean, really? Cummon Russia, I know you can do better than that.

              And 99 fake street?

That sucks because the cops were just down the street from there!

I'm almost positive what really happened here is Russia needed to launder some money and jsut found some briht eyed russians who love america and said "hey wanna be spies?", when really they were not actualy sent there to collect any real information. They obviousely had no training. I expected better.

The mission is to infiltrate, influence and collect information. The cubans do the same in Venezuela. How much bang do they get? Well, we just elected a Marxist president and members of congress openly threaten to nationalize corporations. Statists control the congress, senate, presidency, most main stream media and most institutions of higher learning.
