The chart that shows the rising expenditures vs. GDP is good, but sort of misleading. It doesn't really matter that much if spending increases as long as GDP is also increasing a lot, as well. The chart would be better if it showed the percentage of spending vs. GDP for each bar (not just the highs and lows).

For those economically challenged, think of it like this. It doesn't really matter if you max out a $1000 credit card... if you make $100,000 a year. But it does matter if you max out a $1000 credit card and you only make $10,000 a year.

Where we're at now is a lot like someone who makes $10,000 a year who also has $5000 debt. Not necessarily screwed for life, but the next few years paying off the debt won't be nearly as fun as the time you spent accumulating it.

Keep in mind Obama's approval is much lower now, in the 40's, so just picture a sharp drop at the end of this chart.

Interesting to see all the approval ratings lined up side by side. Also intersting that only Clinton's has an overall upward trend, finishing higher than where he started. Only Reagan's comes close to that, but he still finished lower.

CLinton was an all around anomaly. One of the few to get impeached, yet aproval ratings got higher etc. He was a weird one lol. At least HE left office in better financial health that the joes we have nowadays.

It's just that the article kind of says, "Yeah, Reagan supported the war on drugs. It seriously escalated during his terms in office. But it was a society wide deal with the dems pushing as much or more then the republicans."

And this is for everyone. Reagan was the greatest president of the last century because he defended freedom. Reagan and his policies helped free the soviet republics and led to the death of the soviet Union and many leftists will never forgive him for this. And he also lowered taxes.

Again, Republicans only past faults are a tendencies by far too many, to behave like Democrats lite and increase the size of Government, only at a slower pace. Reagan did not increase taxes or implement any meaningful increase in government. Nixon is another matter, he created the EPA.

You pot heads need to get over all the anti-war on drugs crap. Certain drugs are illegal which creates profitability for shit heads who have no regard for the law. Civil society depends on a law and order. If you don't like then war on drugs, do something to make those drugs legal, but don't criticize the guys who seek to enforce the law.
