Bsd, i feel you, but really republicans have grown government the most in recent years. The healthcare scam at least allows private insurers and doesnt even have a public option. Republicans passed the patriot act, the largest grab of civil liberties of all time. Because of them we have no more privacy, and for that i cannot forgive them. Name a dem that has done that?

I hate ****ing dems too but we need to put this all in perspective. The republicans are no better. I defy you to explain what repuboicans have done better.

The Patriot Act is concerning and leaves plenty of room for debate. The Republican's "solution" was a Patriot Act that expired, meaning we temporarily grant law enforcement greater powers to fight terrorists, but these expanded privileges were to expire. Obama removed the sunset provision and made these expanded government powers permanent.

Simply put, Democrats have no redeeming value, none. Republicans are flawed, but at their worst when they mimic Democrats. At their best, they do not support the growth of government and stand in opposition to the Democrats, as was the case with health care, continued "stimulus" spending and will be the case with the Supreme court nominee who supports banning books and does not have a problem with the government dictating what we eat.

The Obama health care bill is the start. Over the longer term, it will make private insurance unprofitable and reduce choice and competition. The government take-over of health care is not specifically stated in the bill, anymore than death panels, but both are guaranteed eventualities. BTW - some Republican researchers recently found, buried deep within the bill, a provision which requires the notification of the IRS for any transaction of coins valued at $600 or more. Republican congressman Dan Lungren introduced a bill to repeal this provision.

Thank you StuKlu, you are very kind.

I've observed many bright people posting here, but the posts were far too slanted toward either the liberal/statists camp or the it doesn't matter they're all the same camp. I had to present another view.
