I live in EU, i dont know about US cop system and rankings, but here theyd propably be local, but i was so flattered by all that that i even didnt catch who or where they were.
Interesting. I'm assuming you were arrested? If so, what was your charge? I've never known of any academy students that are permitted to participate in police duties until they are sworn. You are also in a different country though.
That is if you don't mind me asking. I feel like we're only getting part of the story here. But I could understand you not wishing to divulge everything. Just curious.
Nah they only arrested my snus .. another car came and they wrote me protocol. And in august i have to go to their station and get my fine wich will be from 100$ to 1800$ but il propably get somewhere 200-400$ i hope. Little mark on my record though.
My charge was that i was selling unlicenced tobacco if i got it right. Its illegal to sale and give snus to others but legal to order it online from sweden.
That shitface monkey who wanted to buy that from me propably is snusing it right now.

Yeah, I could see that being a problem. You have to be licensed to sell tobacco. While what you were doing was illegal, it sucks that out of all the tobacco that is traded/sold online, you were the lucky winner. Had it only been a couple of cans they might have looked you over. But it seems strange to me that they even wasted their time/effort for 20 cans of snus. I could see selling hundreds of cans on a repeated basis. But a one time 20 can transaction? Sorry for your luck.
EDIT: Are you sure everything was legitimate. They weren't impersonators or rogue cops hi-jacking you for your snus were they?
This is probably what's gonna be happening here in the US soon. Undercovers will be watching the exchange boards, and try and nab you. Soon it's gonna be a big chance to even do trades or anything.

Surmounting this "security challenge" will be a triviality if it's taken seriously. I doubt it will be an issue though. If it is there's a good base of "trusted" old timers around from what I can tell, and if the untrusted fella ships first (much like taking the first hit of some ILLEGAL CONTRABAND) we'll know they aren't 5-0.
edit: also I'm probably not the only one around here who would take to the streets with molotovs and a bolt action carbine if undercover police started harassing us about LEGAL products... I've had enough of their "justified" shenanigans

I would have to look further into the law, but I don't think there is any law against trading, just the actual sale of tobacco. I don't think any local departments will be initiating any operations like this in the U.S. It will probably be the ATF spearheading much of it. That is if it even becomes a reality.
I think they would much rather focus on large crime syndicates that are moving a lot of product instead of private citizens. I could however foresee them monitoring boards in order to gain intel on possibly larger blackmarkets. Though you may get interviewed and your tobacco intercepted followed by tobacco websites being addressed for enabling the activity.
Not to mention, snus in America is not a demanding product. We demand it, but most of the U.S. population hasn't even heard of snus, and if they have it's the Camel or Marlboro knock-offs. Like you have said before Tom, snus is a niche product. Cigarettes are the primary blackmarket in the U.S.
EDIT: If for some reason you notice I quit posting on snuson it is probably because I said too much and I got a knock on my door.

Well, that used to be a rule of thumb, but it's kind of like the old urban legend that if you ask an undercover "You're not a cop are ya?" they are required by law to disclose they are. Which they are not required, they can tell you "Hell no I'm not a cop!", no harm, no foul, game continues. There is too many wild cards in the deck to make a safe bet.
You can easily run into entrapment issues though. I'd think the hassle of trying to bust someone with a couple rolls of snus wouldn't be worth it. Now if someone was selling a couple rolls of snus every couple of weeks, that might get their attention.
