Sure, I'm looking at the same picture.I see the man holding a pistol, another on his knees. What the picture doesn't show is whether or not the intended victim and his fallen comrades were shooting at german or ukranian soldiers 45 minutes prior..........partisans or maquis? Granted, the germans did make reprisals against civilians after partisans hit their troops but not to the same scale as Ghengis Khan or William Tecumseh Sherman.

Re; the photos of piles of personal belongings. Plenty of people died in the war. I'm sure such piles could have been amassed after the bombing of Dresden in which conservative estimates place the death toll at 35,000. Joe, I saw "Falling Down" years ago. Great flick. I can't speak for everyone here but I'm not trying to carry water for the nazis. I don't care for any of the "isms",chiefly armed doctrines and variants of totalitarianism which have caused so much grief in the 20th century, but then again, I don't really care if the germans, or russians, or iraqis choose a form of government which does not meet my aproval. I suppose that what really sticks in my craw is seeing those in power attempting to ram rod the history book as written by their court historians down everyone's throat and literally outlaw dissent or even signifigant inquiry everywhere they've been able to. I get the uncomfortable feeling they would do that here if they could. As I said, I'm not nazi but as a southron I know what it's like to be on the "wrong" side of history,to be demonized and have my forebearers demonized.

Pretty much every picture you see of concentration camps shows the prisoners wearing issued clothes. I assume it's to make id easier for population control, and escapee recovery. You tell me. Why WOULD they go through the effort of clothing them, if they were just going to be killed anyway?


Because they wanted them out of the country. That's no secret, and if you'd take a bit of time to read Goebbels' diaries, it's mentioned several times throughout the war period. Siberia, Madagascar, and central Africa were all considered as relocation points after the war.

It's absolutely normal for totalitarian governments to use free labor from the conquered during war time. It wasn't that long ago, that "civilized" governments engaged in the practice.

Lx i think it should be quite apparent what happened here. Orriginally hitler didnt like jews, antijew sentiment built in the masses, and they were determined to get rid of them. So various plans were thrown around and it inevitably led to them being rounded up and dragged away to forced labor camps. At the beginning this is all it was, forced labor. They were gulags and treated the prisoners poorly and starved them, kinda business as usual for that type of thing. Then in the later years hitler started getting crazy and desperate as the war started to turn against him, you can see this in everything from his military xhoices to his personal life, he started going crazy and doing crazier and crazier shit. Then at some point there were too many jews to house in these places, rations were getting short because the war was not going his way and the allies kept bombing their supply routes. They started killing the weak ones who couldnt work at first, then a lot of them died of typhus, this is when the crematoriums started burning up bodies because they were running out of places to bury these people and with typhus being rampant, cremation was the most efficient way to get rid of the bodies.

Then as things progressed, they started killing more and more, gassing them with carbon minoxide or by filling dilousing chambers with people and using a lot of zyklon b on them. As they took over different territories, they rounded them up and killed them on the spot. Back at the concentration camps they started executing more and more as the labor force weekend from starvation and diseas. The war was looking like a loss for hitler and so they rzmped up the effort, because even if he wasnt going to win the war, he was going to get rid of the jews and the other races that he didnt like but had in his possesion. They worked them harder, to the bone, and killed those who were too weak.

Eventually the allies were getting close and the order was given to burn or abandon most of the camps and to get rid of all the prisoners. Half of the places the allies or the reds came across were already in this mode upon arrival.




Its that simple, it started out as forced labor to help aid in the war effort, then as supplies got low the prisoners got more and more malnutritioned and overworked, and more died of typhus, and eventually they just started pre-emptively killing them at a faster rate and burning the bodies so typhus wouldnt spread and so the evidence would be gone.

That is likely what happened here, it may not have started as a genocide, but eventually it amounted to just that. There is too much evidence to claim it didnt happen and that these people didnt die, that something wasnt going on. We can sit and debate the number who died, or the intention kf the killers, but especially towards the end of the war, it became blatantly clear what the germans intentions were and what they did to carry out those intentions. I just dont see any logical basis to try and defend something that not only obviousely happened, but that they admitted to doing and that germany does not deny. The soviets had gulags too but we didnt see the kind of massive graves and piles of ash that we saw with the germans. At some point it was clear that an order of some type was given (in certain camps) to start getting rid of people through any means necessary. That much is clear.


We may never know the true story but we cannot sit here and deny evidence that is so overwhelming. Yes the stories of making them into soap and lampshades were likely just myths and rumors spread amongst inmates at the camps, but the dead bodies do not lie.




To say, "oh we dont know where those bodies came from, maybe they all tripped and fell or died of a broken heart", is blasphemous. If the US did this you know damn well the whole world would believe the story and never forget. Lets not excuse evil where evil obviously existed.

I spent about an hour looking for Jewish population numbers last night, but the numbers I found were suspect in both directions. Even if proper numbers were found, it would be difficult to analyze. I think I remember reading that the total death count for WWII was about 50 million. A lot of people can fall through the cracks when you're dealing with numbers like that.

I think that is exactly why some sort of triangulation would be necessary to get into the neighborhood of what went on. Thus if 3 or 4 areas of measure (e.g. real estate, census, synagogue records) point to numbers in the 100s then we know there is a fabrication. However, if these counts begin to suggest numbers in the millions, then we know we are dealing with an entirely different matter.

enough measures (even those that produce "fuzzy" numbers) will begin to outline a pattern and that pattern will allow a range of extent to be established.

Does that really make any sense? So after the bombing of Dresden, they went through the rubble of the city and collected all of the shoes and glasses and put them in big piles? Does this seem like a more likely scenario than a large group of people being systematically processed and having everything of value stripped from them? I am going to go with no.
