My wife is a writer, and that is the first thing she says when some famous person releases a book...'wonder who really wrote that'

I'm just fukin' with it. But I do think we as a nation need some type of requirement test to pass in order to be able to vote.

I think a person voting should be forced to answer a multiple choice questionnaire simply asking who the incumbents are(or were as the case may be) before they are allowed to vote for each office in question. If you don't know the name of the current Vice President you should never be allowed a vote for the next one. You're too stupid... NEXT!

+1 - Alvin Greene, SC's new Democratic Senate candidate is a prime example of why this might be useful.

I think people have really learned their lesson from the two party system and the one's that have not need to be converted.

Maybe a old school bitch slap is needed!!! Maybe even one for myself!!!

I wish everyone had a decent head on their shoulders, but to not allow someone to vote based on there intellect seems un-american. Voting is a right we all have. Many have died for us to have that right.

I don't agree that just anyone should be allowed to vote. We need restrictions.

Yeah, our presidents were better back then too.

Maybe we just need better civics educational standards.

But I'm pretty sure no one ever intentionally died so that the uninformed could vote based on name recognition or ballot placement.

I leave about half of my ballots blank most elections because I don't know anything about the candidates - and no one should vote on things they don't understand.

Voting should be a privilage and not a right, and the would-be voter must pass a simple political test in English.

It would lead to better results if only the educated could have a say in things (vote), but that leads to aristocracy, with elitists running the show. No one would ever look out for the poor or the stupid because they would have no representation. Keep in mind you average american was not very educated for a few hundred years. Only recently do we pride ourselves on our vast knowledge of math and science (this last century for the most part).

Everyone has the right to vote, even if idiots ruin it for everyone, we need to stand by our principles, and our principles state in quite concise language that we all have a stake in this union of ours, and we all require representation.

US jobless claims fall as factories stay open

                              http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/j...stay-open.html

Despite a persistently high unemployment rate of 9.5pc, initial US weekly claims for jobless benefits fell to 429,000 in the week ending July 10, down 29,000 from the week before – the lowest level since August 2008.

It was the second straight week that initial claims dropped, in a sign that the American jobs market may be starting to recover.
