@ Justin:
Funny picture, but with a $40 case, it props it up in any position I want, whether it be to watch TV, type with it slanted at an angle or anything in-between. Really I thought the Ipad was cool before I got it, but now that I have it, I will likely never by another computer again. It's all tablets from here on out.

I love my 160 Gig Ipod classic, and the Ipad is a sharp device. But I am an Android guy when it comes to phones. Its open source, and the internet dev's do a much better job at writing kernels for the droid phones than Google, Samsung and Sprint (my carrier). So I have a android 2.1 rooted phone, running roms and kernels that make my phone run awesome, and access to the market where there are way more free apps available than on the Ipod app store from what I am told. I love my android phone. Will be getting the 4G Epic in February. That is rumored to be one kick ass phone.
But as mentioned, I think the Ipad is very sharp. It is awesome sitting on the couch with the Ipad instead of a laptop. It is very responsive. I do not like that it does not have memory card readers, or usb ports. Thats why I will wait for the android pads to come out and run well, they will have everything the Ipads do not. So I will own a droid pad once I know they are worth the money. And the droid pads are rumored to be a lot less expensive than the Ipads.

I have been jailbreaking since I had the original iPhone back in 2007, so I will tell you the positives, and the negatives of jailbreaking it.
So I have never jailbroken anything and am not even completely clear about what the benefits/disadvantages of doing so may be. Can someone who has jailbroken an iphone or ipad before give me the lowdown on whether it is a good idea?
From what I gather
- By jailbreaking it, you have access to some new app store that isn't run by the apple NAZI's
- Most of the software in this store is crap and does nothing but lag your ipad/phone
- It voids the warrants
-That you can somehow save your system so that if you need to send it in for warranty, you can restore your system to it's pre-jailbroken state and apple will never find out and therefore you warranty will still be good
Is it a good idea to jailbreak my ipad? Is it true I can jailbreak it, then restore it back to normal if necessary? Are the programs in the Cydia (or whatever it's called) app store worth the hastle. Are they free and if not how do I pay. Will it lag or ruin my system?
Furthermore: JAILBREAKING IS NOW ENDORSED BY THE U.S. LIBRARY OF CONGRESS
So here's my take on it. Back in the day jailbreaking opened up huge opportunity for the iPhone, now that apple has an app store, (a direct effect of jailbreaking) there is not really any point to jailbreaking. Most likely it will cause more problems for you than it would benefit you. Unless you wanted to unlock your device for use on other carriers, there is no longer any true benefit.

I probably won't do it though since so far I havn't run into any barriers by not having flash. I thoght a majority of the web had flash but apparently they have moved on to HTML 5 now, even youtube and stuff has flash. The only thing with flash that I can't see is hulu but I have an app for that so again, not really missing much.
Speaking of which, when flash first came out I figured everyone would have animated flash webpages, why didn't that happen? Too slow to load or something? Flash makes things much more interactive and cool. I don't know much about html5 though so not sure if it compares.

Flash is a real pig, and it uses a ton of resources. I think it's a combination of Flash itself, and poor implementation by developers. That General website was a good(bad?) example of too much Flash. It looked good, but it was slow to get through, and used a lot of resources. It was kind of neat to see once, but it isn't the kind of site you want to go back to because it's so frustrating to get through. That's exactly what you DON'T want in a website, especially an advertising site. You want people to always come back so you can keep the message alive.
