While MD is technically south, I consider it mid Atlantic. Our culture combines elements of the north and south, but is really neither. Some areas are more solidly south, while others feel more northern, but the culture is somewhat unique.

I could say the same about Florida. North Florida is definitely a southern culture, however south Florida is something completely different.
