No. The further South you go it's mostly just younger people or people from other places just living the "city" lifestyle. It's a big difference from North Florida. Northern Florida IS the South! South Florida is more of a "big" city and beach lifestyle.

I've heard that Walmart gears quite a bit of its food items
for retired northerners in and around the many retirement
communities in Florida.
Case in point: Moxie is primarily a Northeastern 'soda pop'
but so many transplanted Floridians were asking for it that
Walmart in Florida was looking into stocking it. Don't know
if that ever happened; the cost may have ended up too high
for fixed-income pensioners.
Never had Moxie, But yes there are some communities with a lot of retired people. Most of them are in the Southwest Florida area and Northeast coast though.

Southwest ... Northeast ... Central ... ... ...
I'l bet the specialty map outfits depend on Florida to remain in business!!
I grew up in the Miami area which was great. Too many transplants though from the north lol. Didn't really have the southern feel which I experienced in Alabama. Texas is pretty cool but I prefer Miami and Gulfshores.
One thing about the south which is great is the food!! Chicken Fried steak, fried okra hush puppies, etc etc..

lxskllr...I drove through western MD today, and it was beautiful. What area of MD do you live lxskllr?
I'm in the shitty section :^D
It actually isn't that bad where I'm at, but the city's been steadily encroaching for the last 50 years or so. It used to be very rural around here, but now it's mostly suburban wasteland :^( To more directly answer your question; I'm in Harford county, which is about 30 miles north of Baltimore. The terrain is rolling hills, which flattens out as you get to the Chesapeake bay.
I love western MD. If there was work out there, I'd move to the mountains in a heartbeat. Every time I go out that way, it feels immediately like home :^)
The mountains there were interesting to me, as they looked different than the mountains in KY and WV, I know that sounds crazy, lol. The mtns in MD were "softer" not as rugged looking, yet they were still higher than most in KY. The slopes were more gradual, and not as steep. I don't know, but I liked them..ahaha. Think it was Allegheny county.
