Most of the time it seemed like there is more variety of the episodes being rerun on TV rather than hulu. And also that bit about premium channels....

Apple in Talks to Offer $1 TV Show Rentals

Apple is in “advanced” negotiations with Fox to rent TV shows via iTunes for 99 cents, and is also talking to CBS and ABC-owner Disney, Bloomberg is reporting, quoting three people “familiar with the plan.”

The deal with Fox’s parent company News Corp would allow a 48-hour rental period, and could be a step towards a re-vamping of its Apple TV product. The programs would be available within 24 hours of airing and would be commercial free, Bloomberg said.

While available on any platform that can run iTunes, the deal would almost certainly be a boon to Apple’s iOS stable — iPad, iPhone and iPod. iOS users already use iTunes as their media hub for buying apps and music, as well as renting movies – helping to make the iTunes store the world’s largest digital music retailer.

But Apple is facing increasing competition from Amazon and Netflix, which both offer their own menus of streaming movies and television shows.

      From the report:
      • Apple plans to hold a San Francisco event Sept. 7, two weeks ahead of the start of the new primetime TV season, to unveil the service and a refreshed line of entertainment products, two people said.

      • Apple also plans to introduce a new version of the Touch with a higher-resolution screen — similar to the display featured on the iPhone 4 — and a $99 version of its three-year-old Apple TV set-top box, one person said. The new Apple TV, which will have a smaller hard drive than the earlier version, is aimed at letting people stream content from iTunes, the person said.

Rumors of the deal were first reported earlier this summer by the GigaOm network’s NewTeeVee.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs is the largest Disney shareholder (from its purchase of Pixar), so at least that piece shouldn’t be too hard to put in place.

OK That's pretty interesting Snusgetter, thanks. Since I travel so much I have to download my content to watch disconnected during flights, but then I could stream the same content via the new Apple TV to my TV for 99 bucks (much better than 200+). Eventually planes will have wifi and allow us to stream, then Netflix/Hulu Plus will be a viable option for me.

Yeah, right, for your wife. I get it.

And just use the internet the way God intended and steal things. 10 dollars for Hulu? You already pay too much for internet service, just call it an information refund.

This is what I fear the internet will become without Net Neutrality. You will get the privilege of paying $4.99, $9.99, $14.99, per month for a big steaming pile of shit. If you are truly lucky you can access "premium" content for an extra $4.99 per month....

I fear worse, all our alternative news sources will be shut down. We will have no "real" source of info once the net goes on lockdown, which unfortunately is gonna happen....

You have found a "real" source of info? By "real" I assume you mean unbiased facts. Please share the link as I have yet to find one.

There theoretically cannot be any unbiased source if it is written by a human. Everything we do is influenced by bias. That's how the software of the mind works, your life and your upbringing influence everything. You can't make a ham sandwich without being biased, let alone write a truly unbiased article on something.

I find AP is actually pretty legit usuall as far as saying both sides of the story. Sometimes they aren't though, like when they shotoshop pictures to make israelis look bad all the time.

I know! It's such a shame there is no way to just read "what is happening" without the talking head telling us "why it is happening" or "what is really happening" or if you're Glen Beck, "what their not telling you". Don't get me wrong, those views are important, especially since we aren't getting the whole story or true story but that's my point, just a wish that there was a place were we did.

I will check out AP, thanks. I am tired of bouncing between the liberal and conservative news and trying to put the pieces together.

Associated Press and Reuters are as close as you will get to not biased, though they do lean left every once in a while. More often than not they are in the middle just reporting both sides. I like talking heads because each side plays watchdog to the other side and it does contibute to ones knowledge as long as you observe both sides and not just one. But i'm like you, sometimes I just want to read what's happening and not get voerwhelmed by all the opinions. Opinion pieces have userped regular journalism, everything reads like an op-ed opinion piece now.
