I probably don't even come close to using 4 gigs a month over 3G because most of my online usage is over wifi at home or office. Anyway, I think AT&T is supposed to send you a warning text or something if you're going over your limit, and if you always wind up going over your limit they'd probably let you move up to a higher or unlimited plan where you would pay more but at least have predictability.

They no longer offer unlimited plans. Their networks cannot handle it so they are charging per each 4 gigs you use, $25 a pop. Kind of a ripoff. I can use hulu on my iphone or ipad because I pay for a hulu plus subscription. This allows me to use the hulu app and bypass the iEmpires boycott of flash.

I would likely only use it if I was at the house over my wifi anyways so as long as it knows the difference than i'm cool. Away from my wifi it would just be rbowsing snuson and news sites. Another thing is downloading apps, not sur ehow big they are, I think each app is between 25-50 mb's a piece, with some getting as high as 100 though it's rare. All in all I think 4 gigs should be enough. I think it's dumb that that's the highest plan you can buy though.

I own an iPhone 4 and love it. The whole "grip of death" hysteria is blown out of proportion. In matter of fact, most cell phones have the same problem, except the area that blocks reception is not visible. I don't own a case or bumper for the iPhone 4 and have yet to experience a dropped call.

For apps over a certain size, they require you to be on wifi (or download through iTunes on your computer) anyway. Most apps are fairly small, indicated by them downloading fairly quickly over 3G, so I don't think it's much of a concern. Basically, my advice is stop worrying and get an iPhone. You'll be happy.

Sweet dude, I can't wait. How fast is the internet compared to regular DSL. Is it reasonable? My current "unlimited" internet takes a minute just to load a paragraph of text. It's like dial up lol.

What's the component cost for the stuff you're getting?

my wife and I both have iphones, although grandfathered plans, and it's about $120. Get a 10% discount through work, and around $130 with taxes, etc. I believe we have 450 minutes, 200 texts each, and of course the old 5 gig "unlimited" data.

Is that the touchscreen one? My mom is looking to upgrade from her blackberry curve and has verizon. Would you recommend it?

                @ Simplysnus:

Pretty much its 770 minutes (w/ rollover), unlimited texts, and 4 gigs of data. This is the lowest family plan they offer at AT&T in my area now. It's $130 a month, but when we used to have AT&T taxes and fees amounted to an additional 80$ a month, not sure why.

I I could pay around $150 that would be sweet and ideal (after taxes of course). The iphones are $250 a piece, so theres that cost upfront. The thing is that while my curretn service is only $50 a month per phone for unlimited everything, they make you buy the phones retail. I bought the equivalent of a 2004 phone for $360 through them. So paying $250 for an iphone will actually be a drop in cost, the monthly will just be higher.

I have had AT&T for over two years now, since the very first iPhone, and was my first cellular device. Lemme tell you, AT&T has by far, the BEST customer service I have ever dealt with, RIGHT next to Apple. You get what you pay for, literally. It may be spendy, but im telling you the quality of service is outright superior than any competition. My girlfriend had Altell, then the switch to Verizon happened, and she hated both companies, lousy service, lousy customer service. Then switched to T-Mobil, and said that was by far even WORSE than both.

As for the 4 gigs, man, you may not even need that. I got Unlimited, because they offered that before and now i am grandfathered in. But I checked my service, and I only use about 90-120mb of data a month. And I am on that thing a LOT! BUT! I also have WiFi at my house, and that does NOT count towards your service. Perfect. If you have wifi, do MOST of your app downloading there.

When I get my girlfriend switched over to my plan, onto a family share plan, I did it at Best Buy, and they royally F*CKED my account up. And my bill was around 670 bucks. I called AT&T, got someone on the line in under 3 minutes, and noticed the crazy error, and fixed it right away. Figured out what my normal bill is gonna be, then told me just to pay that, and next bill I wont see any overage charges. And the next months bill came, she was right. It was a perfect experience.

Go for it. Im telling you, you will NOT regret it.

If you have ANY other problems or questions, just ask me.

fyi, I believe there are more iPhone viruses than android viruses at this point. As android grows, it'll probably be targeted more though.

Your taxes sound way out of whack!

I think Blackberry will probably be bought out by someone similar to palm.

What do you want to use the phone for? looked through the apps, etc available?

My wife got the iphone 4, I'm sitting with my 3gs jail broken, love it and like the form factor better than the 4 tbh. Hooked it up with backgrounder and mywi.

data plan is relative, I use mine quite a bit and go through 1.2 gigs a month, my wife hits 2 gigs easy each month.

The "grip of death" is Steve Job's grip on everything surrounding Apple products. It's his way, or the highway. They take "closed source" to a whole different level, and make MS look like Linux in comparison. Apple will never get a single penny of my money, and I'd use 2 cans and some string before I bought an iphone.

At least the iphone doesn't have an eFuse yet like Motorola.

I will probably switch to android at some point, maybe not as I have apps paid for on the iphone. Pretty content with the jailbreak.

I do get where you are coming from. Apple isnt for everyone, Microsoft isnt for everyone, AT&T isnt for everyone, or anything. You do have a valid point. Hopefully Sgreger1 will choose what is right for him based off what people are saying, and not what other people think is right for them

I love my i Phone 4.. I've had one since the origional one came out in 2007. I would say get it if you can afford it, as well as the data plan that goes along with it.. There is nothing else like it.
