Originally posted by AnselGood man! Don't forget Tetley... PG and Tetley are both my favourites.
We do not have decent teas in shops here in Latvia. Even though we have big brands like Tetley, Lipton and Ahmad, its all poor quality, made for consumption in Easter Europe and the difference in taste between British tea and our tea is amazing, believe me. It seems that all tea sold in the UK is from fair trade and organic, no matter if it is cheap or pricey...
BTW: I never add sugar to my cup of tea.

Drinking tea offers various tea health benefits. Healthy tea leads to a healthy life. No wonder that it is considered a super food with numerous documented and yet to be realized health benefits.

Has anyone substituted their coffee drinking for tea? I would like to hear your insights since I'm trying to cut back on my caffeine use (after I quit smoking I have become a pure caffeine wimp and get the shakes and jitters after as little as two mugs for some reason). Don't know what the hell happened, but I just can't tolerate the java anymore.
I love the smoother caffeine buzz from tea though. It doesn't leave me fatigued and shaky after an hour but stays low and can be drunken all through the day without worrying about not being able to sleep. However, I think the watery taste is just something I have to get used to. Maybe even I will love it after being coffee free for a while!
I can really recommend a book called "Caffeine Blues: Wake Up To The Hidden Dangers of America's Number 1 Drug" by a guy named Stephen Cherniske. It's a very well referenced book and really exposes the (serious) side effects of high caffeine consumption.
Drinking a cup of green tea right now! Wohoo.

Drink caffinated tea rather than green tea, if its watery then it cleary hasn't brewed long enough as it shouldn't be watery. Fruit teas if you leave the bag in are very refreshing or, thanks to Ansel and Pris, I discovered yeba mate tea, will give you some caffiene but its a good sub.

Originally posted by hedersGreen tea is caffeinated though. A small amount (about 30-40 mg in comparison with a cup of coffee that has 100-250 mg per cup/mug). Yerba Mate sounds very interesting, and I've actually tried it a few times a long ago. Tasted like crap from what I can remember but had an interesting effect. Will have to look it up again.

Yerba mate does taste like crap but the effects can be very nice and correct me if i'm wrong there is a synergy between tobacco and yerba mate. If you don't like the taste like me but you like the effects you can drink it cold as a 'terere' mixed with fruit juice.

Avid tea drinker here! I do enjoy my coffee as well but I drink far more tea than coffee. The usual is Typhoo extra strong but I really enjoy my loose black/english breakfast teas. Not a fan of green tea though iv found a few berry and fruity blends that I adore!
Love peach ice tea as well, beautiful stuff!!
