the two are an interesting dichotomy.

Greedy people want to keep everything they've earned, ill-gotten or not.
Sloths want a handout and want to rationalize wealth not falling in there lap as a a conspiracy.

Teach a man to fish. That's all I got to say. Too many of the social programs are open ended, one sided, hand outs. There needs to be follow through and opportunity tied into assistance. Giving and expecting are difficult cycles to interrupt with work and education. That requires ambition.

Sweden is socialist in many respects. What's the problem? They haven't regulated snus like
the capitalists have. Socialism is not communism.

Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

Lots of feasting going on around here. How about not eating anyone and just letting people be?

See, theres you problem right there. Lol. I knew they lied when the cbo said it would reduce the deficit. To the surprise of absolutely no one, it is going to ADD hundreds of billions to the deficit.

I'm not defending "those" rich people...... You seem to jump to the conclusion that just because someone is wealthy that they must have got their wealth because they abused someone.

The PACTact is a great example of socialism in progress.
If a person that knows smoking causes cancer decides to smoke 3 packs a day anyway, no worries the government will be happy to step in and take money away from those evil tobacco companies to help pay for his healthcare.
Those evil greedy tobacco companies must be forced to pay!

The problem I have with socialism is it doesn't care whether or not you earned your money. It doesn't care about personal responsibility. It's a system based on needs.

Yes, it is based on need, like all systems. The difference is it creates increased need and has no means of production. It supports distributing resources, but fails to come up with a way to create resources.

People, socialism wont and hasnt worked because the money needs to be made before it can be spread evenly. Capitalism has its flaws, but it makes good use of the human condition. Greed, the ego, wanting to have more than your neighbor. It causes people to be productive and create things. Its hard to fine tune because some people are better are creating wealth than others, so the wealth becomes concentrated in the hands of a few. It needs reform and regulation, yes, but replacing it with a system that just consumes and never creates wouldnt work. Socialism is the least sustainable of all economic models.
