How long does it take you to...

    Fall asleep?

I've read that it takes smokers longer to fall asleep. I also know that some of us sleep with snus in. I've tried it twice and both times awoke an hour or so later to remove the portion. Just curious what others' experiences are.

I fall asleep very quickly. Usually when I lay down I like to think about the day and think about what stuff I need to do in the next couple days but I rarely get past my first thought before I am asleep. Now I do keep waking during the night and toss and turn a lot (a lot) but never have trouble going back to sleep.

On to the sleeping with snus topic, there was a whole thread about that here http://www.snuson.com/forum/showthre...light=sleeping

      I'm 20 minutes or so.

Lately I've been waking twice each night. I'm only awake for a few seconds too so I'm not really irritated by it. I think nicotine is the culprit as everything else is better than in line where it should be. At the end of the day (or night as the case may be) I still get around 6 - 7 hours sleep and don't feel tired during the day/evening.

Pretty much straight away these days, probably due to having a six month old baby to care for. I am dog tired by the time I get to bed.
I use one or two sterks a day, six or so regular portions and I probably take a big pinch of snuff six or so times a day. I guess that is quite a bit of nicotine. I did find though that caffeine really troubled my sleep and now don't use any caffeine after three in the afternoon. I guess nicotine users tend to use more caffeine, so maybe that is part of the problem.

I've been using them to stop smoking, but have always had trouble falling asleep even before quitting. I have been popping in a oomph snus and instead to really trying to sleep (which is usually counterproductive) I've given up trying and now just lay on my back and relax instead. After about 40 minutes of laying still and relaxing I take out the snus, roll over and five minutes later I'm asleep.

I would probably avoid using them when I was asleep, as nicotine patches gave me knightmares if I left them on. It was a known side effect but was no fun - kept waking up needing a cigarette

give me about 90 seconds reading snuson lately and I'm out for the count
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

Depends. Most of the time I'll lay there for about an hour or more before I finally fall asleep. But if I'm a little drunk or crazy physically tired I'll knock out instantly.

0-5 minutes. I very seldom have trouble getting to sleep.

It takes me up to an hour and a half to get to sleep. Sometimes I have so many things on my mind. When I look up at the clock I worry I won't be able to get enough sleep which makes it worse. Almost nightly I take generic unisom. I know it's not the best thing to do but I don't have other choices. The perscription stuff scares me with the side effects of driving around and not remembering. That just freaks me out.

Edit - I used to drink alcohol every night to help. Two vodka drinks with two shots each. But I realize now the health problems that I can encounter after the long term. Plus the monetary cost.

I had trouble getting to sleep or staying asleep after (hopefully) my last binge drinking episode over a year ago. Now I'm on 200mg of Trazodone. I fall asleep rather quickly.

Going to work on 1-3 hours of sleep brought me to the doctor.
I have not tried the prescribed Trazodone pills yet, but maybe next week. Random weekly insomnia nights the past two months.

Going to lay off afternoon coffee and see if it helps.

I think everyone has a natural schedule and when you mess with that you get insomnia. Mine is sleep around 2-3 and wake up 9:30-10. about 6-7 hours and I feel great. Throw in a small nap in the afternoon and I will clean your garage and have dinner ready for you!

Corporate work schedule throws everything off and I am butt tired most of the week.

If I don't fall asleep within ten minutes, I crank one out and I'm out in seconds.

When I was younger I had horrible insomnia, sometimes 3-4 hours before my brain would finally relax and I'd fall asleep. As I've become older, I absolutely crash, sometimes without first washing up. So I'm out within 5 minutes, even with the lights on.

I passed out one afternoon with a Camel portion in once and I had the worst mouth feeling when I woke up an hour later.
