No matter how I use this razor it's going to cut me and I'm getting a little fed up with being cut. It's just taking chunks out of my skin no matter how careful I am. I've got the razor at the proper angle for sure.

What has been a good learning experience is wet shaving again. Proper prep, soap and brush.

I'll still go back to it - we'll see.

    love the pic lx. LOL.

Get yourself a sample pack of blades from different companies, and see if that helps.

I'm awaiting my badger bucanneer brush and it's coming with some Israelis - so we'll see.
I'm thinking that maybe - just maybe, the Derbys aren't sharp enough for me which is why it's dragging.

I'll throw this one in - the blades feel too thin - I mean to say that when they hit a hair on my chin, they flex and cut into my skin. Are there any less flexible blades out there?

Despite all my complaints I have had a better shave today - but that's definately down to the shave stick and a slightly different angle but I don't think that this is going to improve further as I was quite careful about what I was doing.

          Straight razor :^P

I'll let the others handle that question. I'm not familiar with DE blades.

The vintage blades are supposed to be a lot thicker but I have heard that they are also a lot duller. Your razor should be making it where the blade doesn't move at all when you tighten it. Here is a nice article on blades.

let me know if you try the Japanese ones. I still find that Derby is better than Feather or Kai for me.

Thanks - I think that the Jap ones would be good for my beard but bad for my skin. LOL @ the sig mate.

I could probably use a straight as I'd feel more in control - but it's soooo much hassle. I like the idea though.

c'mon man - that should even work for that troublesome bikini line!

I am still waiting for Owens to post some straight pics. I haven't tried one of those yet.

I let that sit for 5 minutes.
Started shaving and changed the angle of the blade to a less harmful angle - it still cut my face off around the chin. I've got quite a chin and the single blade isn't coping with the contours even though the shave was slightly better overall - and there's still no way this is going any where near my head.
                        I'm definately doing everything right.

So - I went out and bought a Mach 3.
if you're having difficulty with some curves/angles around your face, pull the skin off the curve to flatten it out then shave that spot. try to pull most of the skin area you shave taut as you go over it... it takes a bit of getting used to, but mastering the straight shave makes the man.

Try some Merkur blades. They are my favorite de blade (although I frequently use cheap ass Dorco blades) as they are rather hefty.

I also think its the razor. I think you may have gotten just a super-aggressive razor. Honestly, you should get a '50's SuperSpeed off of B&B, or ebay, they are way less agressive than alot of other razors, but still leave your skin baby bottom smooth. I have many razors, but I find I almost always use the '50's SuperSpeeds.

I have a Parker that behaves exactly like you are saying. Its super aggressive, and will cut you very easily if you do anything wrong - no room for error.

I'll post them soon. I have three about finished, just waiting on the shipment of new adjustable pins to put the damn things back together.

After 20 years of electric shaving - tried wet shaving - and the winner IS.........................

                                MACH 3

Got a beautiful shave from it - don't know what everybodys on about. No rash, no cutting, no pulling and skin like a babys bum.

Conclusion - yer all a bunch of shaving snobs but thanks for the advice. I've learned something though - the art of a good shave so thanks for your input and help. Still awaiting my badger brush.

There's a Muhle R98 DE up for sale now.
