This thread has a lot of lengthy posts so if someone else already mentioned this then...sorry. I noticed that all the news stations around here were covering stories today about the Empire State Building being illuminated in green in honor of the Islamic holiday Eida-Al-Fitr (or something like that).
I know that the Empire building does this year round for many events, and that this isn't the first time that they have honored the Islamic holiday, but this is the first time that I've noticed so much publicity and news coverage about it.
It appears to me that the media is now trying to kiss the ass of the Muslim world in an effort to say "We're sorry! But look...we're honoring one of your holidays! Will you ever forgive us?"
Maybe I've blown this completely out of proportion and am having a bitter day.
