I added the hauntings part if anyone else wanted to add to the thread other stories.

I was looking at ATS today, as I usually do, to get up to date important news, and noticed a thread about this. This place is kinda down the street from me. I live off of 26th St, and this place is off of 17th St. My mother used to work there in the early 70's. I don't recall if I ever went there myself....

When the place was a nursing home, my grandmother was a resident there for a while. I was a teenager at the time, and I knew nothing of the history of the place, but visiting there always gave me the creeps.

Okay i just read the whole like from ATS. Cool story. I am skeptical about ghosts existing, mainly because I don't understand how that would work, but I used to be really into the idea of it. Ive had some cool experiences myself but nothing that convinced me of aynthing paranormal. I'd love to go to this place and spend the night just to see what happens lol.

What kinds of experiences? The definition of paranormal is " not scientifically explainable ". That in itself is hard to prove/disprove as unless you are in a controlled environment you can't do acceptable scientific experiments. I too have had numerous experiences, all but a couple happened when I was alone so I chalk those up to possibly imaginary or brain interpreting energies for me in a unique way. However at least 3 experiences happened with 2 and 3 other people with me and we all saw/heard the same things, so those are unexplained to me.

I live close by and I have been meaning to go to Waverly Hills after reading about the "death chute" but always seem to forget about it. I wonder if you can arrange for an all nighter?

There is a horror movie about this called "Death Tunnel". I haven't seen it.

What a fabulous building, plenty of light from the windows, fantastic scenery. Interesting reading about all of the plans that have fallen through for it. Apartments, didn't happen, 150 foot statue of Jesus on the top, didn't happen. Next up, 4 star hotel for ghost tours.
