If it makes you feel any better, I lost my job, am getting evicted from my apartment and will be homeless on October 1rst. I dont have anywhere to store my stuff so I will have to sell it all or throw it away and Im not staying in Iowa if Im gonna be homeless so Im going south or west, either way I bet I'll be strung out on heroin again in a matter of months and I wont have any snus.
If I lost everything, I'd go move to a commune. There are many communes. Not all are religious, but I'd probably go to a Hare Krishna commune, since I lived at one before. But as bad as one thinks things are, they always change.
I was in the place you are, maybe worse, a few years back. Bank took possession of the house, divorce, lost job, and almost lost custody of my kids. It took a long time to crawl all the way back up again but me knows that you'll do it too, stay strong Grand Poobah.
Oh and don't join a cult like tom502's talking about.

Or date a rich old milf... Or if you can't find one find a rich old dude and blow him a few times, not my cup of tea but if you gotta get by I'm sure you'd try anything. lol.
Don't feel as if you're the only one going through hard times. In the last month and a half, my cat died, I was passed over for a promotion at work, and worst of all, my landlord defaulted on his mortgage and the bank foreclosed. I had to make do without running water for 4 days last week before I could get the water company to turn the account over to me. I'm trying to convince the bank that they'll be better off offering me a lease than to let this house sit vacant (vacant houses in this neighborhood routinely get vandalized), but I'll likely get an eviction notice instead.
In today's world, I'd recommend joing a religious commune over joining the military. I've done both.
There is nothing wrong with joining the military. What other company is going to take somebody fresh out of high school, train him or her to do just about any job that he wants to do and give him or her some cash to go to college? I never joined a commune but joining the military was probably one of the best career decisions I have made. Believe me, I was not ready for college when I graduated from high school. The military prepped me for that and my future career.
The problem with the military is you sign away your life, which can be taken from you, in some meaningless war. Yes, they give you a check, and a bed, and food. But people are getting killed and badly maimed, and psychologically damaged from being in these senseless wars.
Now, if it was peacetime, I'd have no critique of it. I joined in 1984, and it wasn't bad. I was also in the Navy. But maybe it's my age now, but I can't see the appeal for people now, epsecially young kids, to want to sign off, and be sent in the Army or Marines, to go on some battle field and fight the local guerilla troops, which after over 10 years now, we still can't defeat.
If one insists on joining, of course it's their choice, but I'd say the Air Force or Navy would be the most intelligent choices.
