    Total BS.

It's like saying 60% of the smokers will get an serious tobacco related disease.

    It's way too much.

Well, I can see a possibility of lesions from irritation, but me personally, I am always switching sides every so often, even with dip. And if I noticed an irritation in a spot, I would either take a full break, or not put anything on that spot till it fully cleared up. Apart from some recession, some which I had before I ever did oral tobacco, and none that resembles the horror pics you see online, I have not had any gum sores or irritated areas at all.

I can honestly say that eating sunflower seeds has done more damage to my mouth and gums then snus has. My dentist is always like wtf because i have bad recession on one side of my mouth from the seeds i CONSTANTLY eat (I'm talking like an entire bag or more in a couple hours).

          @sth

That's also from the salt of the seeds.

That's a bad habit I got hooked a few times before.

Ya oughta try the unsalted raw shelled sunflower seeds ... better for you
and the taste is great once you get into them!!

It's like raw cashews ... once you're accustomed to the no-salt taste
            they're actually addictive.

It's just the idea of getting over the initial lack of salt and let your
            tastebuds have a treat.

btw, the raw sunflower seeds are used to keep your mouth busy
since they take much longer to properly chew!!

Or you can make your own ...

And add less salt (Love to make them in the micro-owen)

Sorry to hear about that, but with most of the info out there it looks as if it really is no big deal and (very common).

I would however it was me, not irritate that area until the snus lesion officially goes away. No matter what they say! because never say never, there always could be a first.

It sounds like the next stage with continued irritation, the dysplexia would be the pre-curser to serious damage.

Sounds to me, if you just stop usin' for a while, or maybe totally avoid that area for a while, it will go away. But I would also think, if you don't leave it alone, and it continues to be aggrevated, then it might morph into something worse.

Kind of sucks, but i wouldn't worry about it. Time to switch sides and maybe switch to portions. Give the lesion a chance to heal.

Guitar players get calluses, snus users get leukoplakia, it goes with the territory.

I've had that I think, not actual white patches but my left upper gum was red, I also get canker sores all the time and cuts on the sides of my mouth from my retainer. My Jaw also locks up where I can't open my mouth mostly on my left side sometimes or it hurts and it feels like I'll pop my jaw which I think is related to jaw surgery.

                          That would be even worse!

I believe that a correct mouth wash / dental wash after each snus portion / prila should reduce the risks.

I'm sorry to be blunt, but I think the only solution is to give up snus.

Let's look at the facts. You use snus - this is causing the problem. To get rid of the problem - guess.

It's a sh*t decision to make and I'm sorry you've been unfortunate to get this. It's maybe something that quite a few of us will have to deal with in the future.
I don't really care about what others say - leukoplakia ain't a good thing no matter which way you look at it. I wouldn't take the risk.

                              The decision, obviously, is yours.

Thanks for letting us know. At least I can be more observant of the signs in future.

Yeah definitely sounds like time to give up snus before it's too late. I used snus to quit smoking, and was successful, maybe it's time to drop the "smoking cure" now.
