I don't think he is a troll... my guess is hypocondriac.

I'm not saying this is the same dlukej but this was posted on the net by someone with the same username. This same guy worked in a chewing tobacco company for a year.

..I also hate needles and hospitals. I have panic attacks in hospitals. I also get pale and fainty if I'm around needles. Even if I'm around people talking about needles I get woozy. So please dont bring needles around me. I may pass out...

C'mon now JT, there are an awful lot of people using the name dlukej out there. It could just be a coincidence.

Yep, it could be. That's why I qualified it with "my guess "and "I'm not saying this is the same dlukej"

When he gives us more to go on, we will know. He's probably licking his lips when he uses snus, causing his lips to dry out. The snus isn't the casue it's the lip licking. Nothing a little chapstick/Blistex won't solve.

Yeah but you can't help but suck your lips when you use snus. It tastes so good!

Ok guys. I am not a troll, I don't work for a tobacco company, and I'm not a hypochondriac. I am being completely serious here.

It's not toothpaste, I use the same toothpaste I have used for years.
Its not my LIPS that have skin falling off, it is inside my mouth. Its the inside of my upper lip. You know, where the snus goes?
Yes, I have used dip before. Years ago, when I was in my teens, I used Skoal and Copenhagen. When I quit smoking, I used Skoal bandits for a year until I found snus. I haven't used Skoal bandits in almost 5 years, and of course, dip is placed in my lower lip, not my upper lip where this problem is going on.

Now it is possible that it is the pouch material, since I started using a new snus a month ago (offroad frosted) and it seems to have gotten worse. But, I used Jakobssons for years and I did begin to develop this issue with Jakobssons. So far, it only happens in the inside of my upper lip/cheek. I have switched to placing the pouch in my lower lip/cheek, and so far no skin has been falling out of my lower lip/cheek. But, since no one else seems to be having this problem, it appears I may have to quit snus. I really enjoy it, but losing chunks of skin from the inside of my mouth can't be a good thing. I suppose I can try some different kinds of snus to see if it continues. Maybe there is something in the ice fruit/frosted kind of snus that my mouth doesn't like.

                Just to reiterate-

I do not have any mouth sores. My gums look healthy. My upper, inner lip does not bleed, nor is it sore or hurting. But when I put snus in my upper lip all day, the next morning large chunks of dead skin come off of my upper, inner lip/cheek. The last time this happened, 2 days ago, I pulled out a piece of dead skin from my upper inner lip/cheek that was an inch long and about a quarter inch wide. My belief is that it could possibly be the salts drying out the skin and killing it, but I have used snus for years and this didn't start happening until about 4-6 months ago.

I am a snus addict. I keep a pouch in my lip for 30 minutes to an hour at a time, and then immediately put in a new one. But I do move the new pouch to a different place in my lip when I put in a new one. So I probably use 10-15 pouches a day, alternating locations in my upper lip. 1st one in my upper left lip/cheek, 2nd in the center of my upper lip, 3rd in my right upper lip/cheek, then start over on the left, etc.....

Maybe it's just the winter air drying you out or something else dehydrating you. Or could be the portions. Drink lots of water and maybe try some loose. Otherwise something in those particular snus you have been using. Try something else. Hang in there and good luck!

I'd say drink more water and maybe peel the loose skin off of your top lip and let it grow back, I think you didn't get callouses on the skin which is what normal for some reason which is weird. Oh and for me at least thunder frosted burned my mouth pretty good and irritated my skin.

Have you been to a dentist?

                      He might have some answers.

I get skin off the inside of my cheeks sometimes but that has always happened even before i started snus. I have a bad habit of chewing the inside of my mouth. I don't recall ever pulling any skin off of my upper lip. Snus does dry my mouth out pretty bad though i always have to have something to drink near by when i snus. Honestly though even if the snus caused my mouth to peel some i would still choose snus over smoking any day if the pealing wasn't causing me any pain.

Sorry to hear about your problem hope you find an answer to it soon.

I hope the FDA doesn't catch wind of this thread..

"Snus is not a safe alternative to smoking, and may cause lepracy"

Well that's a damn sexist thing to say! What if he has a woman dentist?

Just messing with yas myuserid and it's sound advice. Coming to an internet forum asking about medical issues is about like asking a bum on the side of the road how to make a million dollars. He may have plenty of opinions on the matter but from the looks of it, no evident experience. Also, we love the hell outta our snus.

Actually, I remember reading that if you do not know the sex of something you are supposed to refer to it as male. I was reading an etiquette book once and I saw that. It might be outdated now, but I remember musing at it.
